Tuesday 11 November - Pepsi Center, Denver
From Jake:
I was one of the lucky few thousand madonna fans who attended the sold out 'Sticky & Sweet' show this past Tuesday November 11th, at Denver's Pepsi Center. The show was like NOTHING I had ever seen before. I have been a Madonna fan forever, and have never had the chance to see the icon in person. Needless to say I was brought to tears even before her majesty took the stage at 9:30pm. I don't think that my words could ever bring justice to the energy, the visual triumph, the musical brilliance, the performance tour de force that is a Madonna show.
For two solid hours of pure euphoria, Madonna covered a plethora of songs spanning her brilliant 25 year career. My favorite being 'Like A Prayer', hands down, without a doubt the most incredible song of the evening. Words of scriptures were cast across projector screens, and a cage of fire enraptured the star, while she busted out an updated, remixed version of the song. She stunned us all with 'You Must Love Me', leaving me beside myself, stunned, speechless, and my vision blurred with tears.
She was lifted up from underneath the stage atop a grand piano cloaked in a massive, stunning black cape to sing 'Devil Wouldn't Recognize You.' All the while the expression on her face seemed to equal the profound symbolism and dark truths within the song. She didn't miss a beat, the entire time the you-wouldn't-know-it 50 year old mega star was on fire. Go figure.
I have never seen anyone perform and entertain as successfully as I did that night. It was a complete high that I still haven't come down from. I've never screamed so loud in unison with so many people, expressing my self in words of love and adoration. I knew it was going to be incredible, but this was out of control. I wish I had it on video or in a photo anthology, however, the memory will live forever with me. Long live the Queen!
Tuesday 12 November - Pepsi Center, Denver
From Amy:
Me and four of my friends dressed up as different Madonna's: I was 'Like A Virgin', Effie was 'Material Girl', Diana was 'Music', Jamie was 'Borderline', and Pilar was 'Hung Up'.
We were seated in the third section, but as a result of our outfits we got moved up to the front row! Madonna was singing at us and looking at us in our outfits all night.
Madonna asked me my name and what song I wanted to hear. Of course, I said 'Like A Virgin' and she had me stand up on my chair and show the entire Pepsi Center my outfit! It was the most exciting moment of my life.
She then asked me if I was a virgin, and I said no, and she said 'No, I didn't think so. It was so awesome talking to Madonna! A night I will never forget, that's for sure.
From Randall:
Both shows were amazing, as I was lucky enough to go to both. Second one was a bit of luck though. We bought two nose bleed tickets real high up for $62.00 each. As we walked in and our tickets were scanned we were told our view would be blocked and to see guest services. We walked up and said we were told to see you. The man grabbed our tickets and said ok here you go. He gave us two tickets for Sec 102 row 1! I couldn't believe it.
Just the night before we were one section closer and paid a fortune for the tickets! I'm a die hard fan so I was so excited. The view was awesome and she was even better than the first night. She seemed to be more in tune with the crowd. The first night she didn't interact as much. It was an amazing time, I'll remember it always!
From Teena:
The first show, she was about an hour and a half late and had an opening DJ mixing her music as well as other pop music. To me, everything looked and sounded incredible. Of course she was a little disappointed with people sitting or not singing or dancing. The first night's request was 'Like a Virgin.' 'Miles Away' was dedicated to the 'Emotionally Challenged.'
The second night she was 1 hour late and the DJ from the night before was not spinning before the show. When it came time for a request she said, 'The problem with old songs is I can't remember the words.' The first request was 'Who's That Girl,' the second request was 'Candy Perfume Girl.' She finally chose Amy's request, 'Like A Virgin.' During 'Human Nature,' she shouted, 'Why the fuck should I be sorry?!' She did not dedicate 'Miles Away' to anyone.
