Wednesday 12 July - Wachovia Center, Philadelphia

From Christine:
As usual the show was amazing, each tour just gets better and better! However my only complaint is that she started an hour late. She was very talkative to the audience. She was yelling at the front row bitches, she was saying how whenever she tours Philly, there's always this one section, the same section all the time, that's just sitting there like they don't wanna have a good time.
Then she said to that section, 'What were you guys given those tickets or did you buy them, well if you bought them, get off your fucking asses, you know have fun, unbutton that top button, you guys are gonna have to do much better, if you expect to be my front row bitches.' I lost it when she said unbutton that top button, that was so funny! Then at one point she grabbed someone's hat from the audience, wore it on stage, then tossed it back out, how lucky is that person.
But as for the performances, they were all great, Like A Virgin was my favorite though, Live To Tell was amazing. All in all, it was a great fricking show!

From Christopher:
I just got back from the show in Philadelphia....and I have to say it was the best show I have ever seen live. It starts off a little slow but then she kicks it up about 10 notches.
The highlights for me were Live To Tell, Sorry Remix, and of course 'just go to Texas....and suck George Bushes Dick.'
She also asked her front row bitches if they had bought or won the tickets. Then she went on to say they used there hard earned money and the need to act like their having a good time. Later she told them shake your asses. 'Come on Mother Fuckers,' was also in there somewhere.
This was truly a once in a life experience. I traveled 8 hours from North Carolina to see it but it was more than worth it.
I only wish she would have said, 'thank you...goodnight,' but she didn't! Can't wait to see her again.

From Christopher S:
I have seen every Madonna show since 1985, when I was a kid, and she only gets better. This tour is a lot more personal and less detached than Madonna usually presents herself, which is nice for this album. I have to say that the video background was a lot better in Reinvention, but the costumes and dancing were a lot better for Confessions.
I don’t think she was pleased with the Philadelphia crowd, as she kept making comments about people not dancing and she didn’t talk a whole lot. Overall, the show was her best so far and Madonna definitely sings every word live. The disco ball is awesome, and I hope she sells it after the show and makes more than her 10 million back!

From Jordan:
I have never been to Madonna show prior to Philly 12th, and I must say it was the most amazing thing I have ever been too. I have been a fan of madonna since I was 4 and it was wierd actually seeing someone for the first time, who has been in your life for 14 years. I'm going to plan on seeing her shows now on.

From Josh:
The first concert here in Philly was amazing. Her opening was incredible. I stood up the entire time dancing and screaming. Everyone around me was up and dancing. My 5th time seeing Madonna live, and as always....a night to remember. The dancing for this tour is so different than her past tours, I loved it. I can't pick a favorite part....probably not even a top 5....it was just great all around.

From Kathy:
When Madonna sang her song, 'Jump' she sat down and looked right down at me a smiled. I couldn't believe it! I had the best time ever and I have 3 children and I have to say sitting that close to her and SEEING her was so....surreal....it was one of the greatest moments of my life, up there with the birth of my children!

From Keys:
The show was set to start at 8pm. The crowd started to scream at glimpses of Madonna on the stage before it opened. A female impersonator in full Madonna riding gear was seen walking around in the closed off section. A young girl with a ponytail was seen sitting around this area with mini television sets and three production guys (possibly her daughter). Certain people could be heard saying come on Madonna I gotta go to work tomorrow.
Screams started on and off from 8 until 9. First a section of lights went off then the rest stayed on, the clocks displaying the time also disappeared. People were waiting at the entrance to the bathroom and concession stands for her to appear so they could go to the bathroom after her first song. Then all of the lights went off for complete darkness, then all lights from cellphones started to appear. The screams of the audience went on full pitch.
Madonna moved through her setlist grabbing some bottles of water during the show. She said, 'Thank You' to the audience after ending one of her tracks from Confessions On A Dance Floor. During Like A Virgin certain people left their seats and started dancing at the entry ways to the bathroom and concession stands until security moved them away. Before singing Paradise she introduced Isaac and said this is my friend Isaac and he walked all the way from Yemen to get here (joke).
Later in the show she was mystified in her own words as to what was the problem with the left section front rows 2 and 3. She then asked if they paid for their tickets or someone gave them to you. During this time the camera panned toward them. They replied with an yes, and she said, 'Well f***ing act like you paid for them, that's your hard earned money.' She also made a comment about them not acting like front row bitches. If you're gonna be my FRONT ROW BITCH you better act like one! She had more comments for the group. During a certain song she said I want to see your asses shakin, MOVE.
The audience was laughing and cheering at Madonna antics. When looking toward the audience she said, 'I wanna see you motherf***ers jump!' Madonna walked around creating a competition for where was the best section (starting from that left section....moving right....then down the catwalk....then asked about the section in front up high). Before she started 'Like It Or Not' she said 'Certain people talk the talk, but how many walk the walk?' (while walking in a cocky swagger)
She kept the George Bush line about sucking his D*** in Texas. After singing 'I Love New York', if you don't take offense to the song prove it by jumping to the next song (Ray of Light). During a certain song she walked down the catwalk and a fan threw her a rolled straw cowboy hat. She donned the hat sung some more, then threw it to the audience on the opposite side which pulled at it for a minute then the lucky owner waved it around before putting it down.
There was also a certain interlude where the screens projected classic Madonna videos with radio static as it changed 5-10 second tracks.
After the show ended it started to drizzle then rain. The guards talking the fans asked if they were coming back tomorrow and the general answer was 'I wish I was.' People were waiting in the area above the tour bus and trucks to get another glance at Madonna. Certain people went to their cars and started their own tailgate parties playing the tracks she did not perform and ones she just performed from their car stereo (possibly to still enjoy the music and by the time they were done the traffic would be gone).
The acoustics were great at the show and the album sounded better in person than they did on the CD. Throughout the whole show you could see that Madonna was smiling and giggling having a good time.

From Patrick:
So last night I went to the Philly show (I’m from DC) and sat immediately in front of the main cat walk which are the best seats in the house, and guess who was sitting right next to me? GWYNETH PALTROW! She came in once the lights went down and danced the whole time! She was there with a friend. She was very sweet and danced with me the whole night! Madonna kept looking our way and smiling at Gwyneth! She left before Madonna did Hung Up when Madonna’s assistant came and got her.

From Rob:
I went to the Madonna concert at the Wachovia Center last night (7/12). WOW, what a show. We sat in the second row in section one and what I didn't realize til I was actually there was that although my seat was #16, it was right up against the barricade that separated me from the runway in the middle of the floor because the first few rows were shorter. After that, the night just got better and better!
Madonna has this amazing energy that just makes me wonder how she does it. When she first appeared, I got goosebumps like always and once the show started, it really didn't stop. The highlights for me were making eye contact with her during several numbers, and I made sure to show my appreciation by singing along, dancing, jumping, waving, and clapping.
It was during Drowned World though that she made my year! She was singing and I was singing along, and our eyes met and she just kept them on me for about 20 seconds until she got up, came right to me and grabbed my hand and held it for about 7 seconds before sliding it away and returning to the stage.
It may have been such a short time, but it was phenomenal and unexpected. It wasn't until I turned around to ask my boyfriend if what I thought happened really did, that I realized that....oh yeah, there are 15,000 other people here. Thank you Madonna! It meant so much more than she'll ever know.

From Robin:
I was in the 23 row section 3 at the Philly show last night. Gwyneth Paltrow was sitting in the first row of the section directly in front of the cat walk last night! She kept covering her ears, apparantly the music was bothering her. She got over it. Pulled her hair back in a pony tail, and got down with the rest of us raving lunatics!

From Sam:
Just wanted to let you know that while I was hanging out on the floor waiting for the show to start and chatting with my best friend, Stuart Price walked by. I immediately noticed him and introduced myself. He was very friendly and talked to me for several minutes. Naturally, I wasn't camera ready but it was cool to just hang out with him for a bit, share some laughs and talk about the show. Combined with Madonna's greater than usual performance, it was a night I'll never forget!

From Sonya:
For the July 12th show I flew a couple days before to Philadelphia from Ontario Canada. Madonna is a lady I will travel the world if I have to in order to see her perform. I have been to every Madonna concert and they just keep getting better each time!
I would have to say the Confessions Tour I watched in Philadelphia on her first performance night was absolutely the best! As a major fan I always get up front and center. When ever she came to perform close to where I was dancing my ass off she was close enough to touch I almost fainted! This is something I experience very show as I always make sure to get up close front and center!
I love how she was very interactive with the audience. She walked, danced, rolled around the cat walk so many times and got the audience so involved it was unreal. At one point she was sitting on the stairs talking to the front row bitches, she asked them, 'Were you guys given those tickets or did you buy them, if you bought them get off your fucking asses, have some fun!' She proceeded to tell them to unbutton their top buttons!
Her entrance was brilliant coming out of the disco ball that was lowered down at the front of the cat walk. The whole show kept you on your toes wondering what could possibly be next. Madonna is an amazing woman who knows exactly what she is doing and how to bring everyone together for one hell of a good time! That is quite apparent in every show she does. I know every time I have seen her perform I am surrounded with my extended family the family I call the Madonna family. That's exactly what we are!
MADONNA KEEP ON KEEP KEEPIN ON! WE ALL LOVE EVERY BIT YOU! YOU ALWAYS MANAGE TO BRING US ALL TOGETHER FOR AN UNFORGETABLE EVENING!

From TomTom:
The concert was amazing from the opening of the Philly Nights. We stayed across the street from her dancers at the Four Seasons and Cloud waved to us. It was crazy!
She yelled at the left side row and made comments about them all night saying to 'Fucking act like her front row bitches?' It was fantastic! She still got every bit of it!
She likes cowboy hats because she stole one from a guy and threw it to the other side of the arena at Wachovia! You all have to go see her!

Thursday 13 July - Wachovia Center, Philadelphia

From BettyAnn:
I have been a fan of madonna since the beginning. This is my 4th concert that I have seen. I went to see both shows while she was in Philadelphia. I have to say it is SO amazing to see the amount of energy this women has. The fans love her and it was a packed house. This women just don't stop! Can't stop and wont stop!
She has the body of a woman in her 20's and she always put on a great show. You get your monies worth when you go to a Madonna show. I hope she wont be stopping anytime soon and to the critic's when you look like Madonna and sound like Madonna you can act and dress the way you want! She might be 48 in years but her spirit says 20! GO MADONNA! GO!

From Dave:
Even tho it was as hot as hell in there, Madonna definitely captured the true dance club feel. With the temperature and the buzz in the air, she surely recreated the atmosphere of a dance club in a huge arena. I never sat down for the whole concert and the songs were just favorites ontop of favorites. I was sitting in Section 3 row 21 which was right in line with the disco ball platform so I was literally 6 seats away from her second stage.
During Hung Up when the balloons came down, I was reaching to get one, with no luck. Then just by chance, a guy in a pink shirt tapped me on the back and gave me one. It was so nice of him to do that, cuz I wouldve kept 2 for myself if I were him! Two rows back was the section infront of the second stage and none other than Lenny Kravitz was sitting there enjoying himself. I couldnt have asked for a better night!

From denim32:
I just got in from tonight's show and I can honestly say I'm completely exhausted! I've never danced so much in my life! The show was amazing from the moment she exited the disco ball to the last line in 'Hung Up!'
My favorite songs were 'Future Lovers', 'Like A Virgin', 'Let It Will Be', 'Erotica/You Thrill Me' and 'Lucky Star'/'Hung Up'. I had a side view seat which was pretty interesting because you can see everything that goes on backstage. We saw dancers changing, Madonna getting last minute make-up touches while lying on the cross and a turntable that rotated Madonna and the dancers to various parts of the stage.
The crowd was very energetic and Madonna didn't have a bad thing to say about us! I can't wait to see her in Atlantic City!

From Drndwrld11228:
MADONNA MY GODDESS was AMAZING we originally had BAAAAAAAAAAAAD seats $50.00 seats that we got last minute. We went to our section 222, and the usher took our tix, gave us 2 new tix and told us to go in the elevator and to club box 15, when I saw where our new seats were I started to cry and shake! I was 20 feet from Madonna granted not as close as front row but I was closer to my idol than ever! I could see her sweat! Unbelievable!
And MADONNA was so fun and friendly with the audience, like when she said 'When I think about Pennsylvania I think about work!' 'But this is a fuck of a lot more fun' I lost it!

From Fernando:
Last night in Philadelphia, MADONNA WAS AMAZING....she was full of energy....full of life and really enjoying herself....
She was having fun with the crowd; she even took a hat from a guy sitting next to the catwalk and put it on for half of her performance of LIKE IT OR NOT!
The crowd was very receptive, dancing, screaming and having a great time! It was a FULL HOUSE, not one seat left open. Lenny Kravitz made an appearance again! He really likes this show!
At the end, during HUNG UP when she asks the audience to participate, she came over to me AGAIN and put the microphone RIGHT ON ME and had me sing 'TIME GOES BY....SO SLOWLY' over and over and over....She smiled and winked at me! Gotta love her!

From Michael:
I went to Madonna's Thursday night show at the Wachovia Center and was very happy with what I saw and heard. I didn't get my tickets until 2 days before the show (hail eBay!) as I really couldn't afford to spend the money this time around (I have seen her 4 prior times, Who's That Girl Tour, Drowned World Tour and twice at the Re-Invention Tour) but I just couldn't resist after hearing such great fan reviews.
She started an hour late (as seems to be the norm) but being used to her tardiness, I didn't sit down until 8:35. I had lower lever, center seats (aisle seat too - extra space to dance!). Once the show started I was more excited than I expected. The Disco Ball was impressive and I am a 70's Disco fan so I loved that she paid homage by doing some I Feel Love during Future Lovers. Get Together is one of my favorite Confessions songs so I was happy to see it live and enjoyed dancing to it. I actually didn't sit down once....even during the ballads.
The section I was in (106) didn't seem very into being there. I was kind of embarrassed. Why pay all that $$$ to see someone like Madonna live and just sit there or stand up but not move at all? My guess is that they're casual fans who expect to hear greatest hits all of the time and aren't familiar with newer material.
Anyway, other highlights for me were Jump, Live To Tell (haven't seen her do that since 1987 - dummy that I am, I skipped Blond Ambition to see another tour that I won't mention by name, a decision I regret to this day!) - her voice sounded great while she was on the cross - Ray Of Light - the place really went crazy during this song and it was about time! Sorry, Erotica (really liked this version), La Isla Bonita (not a fave M song of mine but this was by far the best version of it I've ever heard and I really liked it a lot), Isaac, Forbidden Love, Like It Or Not - all fantastic!
I was a little disappointed with I Love New York and Let It Will Be. Not that I hated them at all, but I personally prefer the album versions. Lucky Star (only ever saw her do this in 1987) was a crowd favorite too.
I was looking most forward to seeing/hearing Hung Up and I was happy with it but my biggest surprise was Music. I was BLOWN away by Madonna and her dancers' performance during this number. I loved the Disco Inferno music but the dancing and energy were fantastic! The crowd was totally into Music and it showed. I loved how she did some of John Travolta's dance moves from his big solo number in Saturday Night Fever. She can still dance like nobody's business and all the critics that are saying she's too old to act and dress the way she does can go screw themselves!
We should all be that in shape and agile and talented when we're nearly 48 years old! Oh, and I was roaring when she put her hand down her pants and sucked her finger afterward! Classic Madonna! I miss that stuff sometimes!
I know many in the audience were probably expecting to hear Holiday but being that I love spoilers, I knew what the show was all about the day after the first performance in LA so I had no disappointments....well, I feel she didn't talk as much as I've read about in other city's fan reviews. She did the thing with the hat from the audience member again, said Suck George Bush's Dick and said Fuck Off and not Eff Off during I Love New York. And unless she's got some great trickery going on, her singing all sounded live to me. She sounded pretty raspy during Lucky Star by the way.
And I was surprised that I could feel air conditioning in the arena! It wasn't on full blast but I could definitely feel it! At Re-Invention, both nights that I went I was sweating like a dog it was so hot. So I was prepared for the same this time around but it really wasn't too bad. And I danced a lot!
I've been a major Madonna fan since March of 1985 and as I said before I've been fortunate enough to have seen her four other times before Confessions and I'm glad that Madonna puts so much into entertaining her fans and that she tries new things mixed with old things and that she doesn't just do whatever everyone else wants or expects her to do (like play old hits all the time). I'm happy that my generation has been given a super star like Madonna to worship! She certainly has made life interesting over the past 20 some-odd years!
So I was a very satisfied boy when I went to bed last night replaying the nights performance as I fell asleep. Thanks Madonna!

From Mike:
I too thought the show was fantastic. I was in section 1, eleven rows from the stage, right by the main side stage. Talk about great seats!
My favorite numbers are Live To Tell, Like A Virgin, Sorry and Hung-up. Of course all her songs are pretty cool. The dancers are phenomenal and Madonna hasn't lost the touch. I too had her make eye contact with me....her gaze is very penetrating, revealing just how intelligent she is.
The video introduction is not at as indepth as it was in Reinvention, however, the huge disco ball puts any video introduction to shame. Madonna knows how to mix it up and keeps us guessing. Apparently, Madonna has no fear of heights (not that she shows anyway)....just how do you climb into that huge crystal ball?
The only thing that pissed me off was after the show....apparently someone swiped a box of tee's and was selling them as the cars were leaving the lot. Unless you have gotten your merchandise from a vendor at the venue, please don't buy it. I have no doubt this stuff was stolen. Not cool. I have no problem paying the bucks for the concert and the vendor items because she is worth it. I would rather buy the items legally, and see Madonna get the profit, than from a thug and have Madonna lose money.
Go see Confessions, you won't be disappointed! She wore me out, a 32 year old, and I wasn't even performing! LOL

From Stefan:
I was in the 7th row on the floor last night at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and I cannot express myself enough. The music, the dancing, HER. It was a truly amazing experience. The new version of 'Erotica' is definitely a stand out. Actually the whole last section of the show with 'Music/Erotica/La Isla Bonita/Lucky Star/Hung Up' is the best part of the evening.
I wanted to share the story she told us while resting on the stairs after performing the incredibly energizing 'Let It Will Be'. She said every summer her Father used to make her drive down to Pennsylvania to visit her Grandmother, where she would have to weed the garden, or clean the house, or run errands. She always used to equate Pennsylvania with work. Then she laughed and said 'and now, here I am in Pennsylvania....working.' And she smiled.

From Troy:
It was like an oven in the Wachovia Center but it's the price we have to pay to have her voice sounding top notch which it was all night!
We were on the floor right next to the catwalk and I noticed that Stuart Price was having some sound problems during I Love New York but the show went along fine.
During Get Together she made direct eye contact with me and reached out and grabbed this guy Keith from DC and held his hand. I was so jealous!
She said that when she was a little girl her Dad would bring her to PA ever summer to her Grandmothers to help out and work and said 'look at me now back in PA and working', we ate it up!
Best live show EVER! She's never looked, sounded or danced better!
