Sunday 27 August - POP Bercy, Paris
From Clair And Craig:
Oh my God! I've just got home to the UK from watching the first Paris show and it was amazing as were the other three I saw (two at Wembley) and one at Cardiff.
Madge looked like she was enjoying herself alot more than on previous tours and interacted more with her fans which I think is important as we are paying such high prices.
Last time we came to Paris to see her we had seated tickets but there were hardly anyone in the stadium when we got in so they allowed us to run to the front. The same thing happened again but unfortunatly they wouldnt let us down to the floor and I was escorted up as too my friend and iI'd sprained my foot from running! We were devastated as it was my last chance of getting anywhere near to the Queen.
Everything about the show was amazing the glitter ball, Like A Virgin, Live To Tell, Lucky Star, Hung Up it goes on and on. Now I have no more shows to see but I just want Madge to know I've followed her for 20 years and this was the 10th time I've seen her and everytime she rocks my world. I would have loved to have gotten closer to her and get a balloon I just have to hjope she comes again in a few years. We love you Madge.
From Evelien:
I saw your review on the website: During Paradise (Not For Me) something must have gone wrong with the vocoder bit as it sounded really strange and caused Madonna to look at Stuart several times thinking 'somethings not right here!'
This is absolutely true. Me and my friend were at the side of the stage and we could actually look behind the stage. After the performed the song, she sat on one of the elements of the stage which turned away from the crowd. While the stage was turning and Madonna was out of sight of the audience (although not out of ours as we kept a close watch on her all the time ) Madonna looked REALLY angry at Stuart and gave him the finger! A very powerful finger I must say.
Stuart turned back to his laptop (we were just meters away from him and we could see every expression on his face) looking quite moved. When Madonna got back on stage Stuart tried to make eye contact with her all the time but she just couldn't be bothered to look at him.
After she performed the song wearing the brown leather jacket, she took it off, walking up to Stuart Price to throw the jacket in that corner....but looking pretty angry with him and you saw her swearing at him! We just could feel that the relationship between them was quite tense that show. What is going on between them?
Before Live To Tell we could see Madonna climbing on the cross with two men assisting her with little lights. She really had to rush. She was not even 100% ready and the cross already started to go vertical.
We could even see the quick change and saw how Madonna's hair was done. After Paradise (Not For Me), she got back wearing a ponytail. We could also see how her white dancing shoes were changed with some white leather covers making it look like boots! Two men were already there for several minutes....when Madonna got there to change her 'shoes'. It was just infront of us.
Before the show started, Madonna and her dancers walked passing our seats and when we screamed and yelled at her, she looked up at us, making the gesture of being really nervous. She was so little and cute....in between these muscled men.
It was a night to never forget. When the show was over, we could see her hugging everybody behind the stage. They were so happy they did it again! Stuart stayed at the stage though....
I hope you liked these kind of backstage comments (out of audience sight comments)....and maybe like to share this with other fans!
From Georgia:
Madonna was amazing on Sunday night, even though an hour late, and many fans fainted before she even arrived!
As we all waited outside for the arena to open, we heard her soundcheck, which only excited the crowd more.
Jean -Paul Galtier was also there, and he was in the seats opposite the end of the runway.
Her performance was amazing, and during Like A Virgin, she looked up and smiled at me! Also, when climbing around on the mechanical bull, the look on her face was so cute, as it was scrunched up with concentration, and she was holding on very tightly!
From Julien:
I was next to the middle stage and very near the giant disco ball when it came from the sky! It was a magical moment went she went out the ball with a big smile on her face.
She spoke a little French telling us she was doing a very big effort but there was nothing new in her vocabulary!
The dancers during Jump are crazy, they jumped everywhere as if they were yamakazis (I don't know if the word is the same in English, sorry) and the croud went wild during the Sorry interlude when Bush appeared with this strange blink of eyes!
The crowd went wild when the Disco Inferno part started and everybody danced and jumped in a mass hysteria! It was amazing!
That was, I think, a better show than the Re-Invention tour because Madonna seemed very happy and danced as if we were back in 1990!
I hope this will not be her last tour!
From Marc:
Having already seen the show at London's Wembley Arena I was sooo excited to have the opportunity of seeing the best live performer of our generation again.
Travelling to attend the second night at Paris was really cool. Madonna give it her all, but I have to say Paris what was wrong with you....The crowd in London, when I saw her was wild jumping and dancing to EVERY song! (ok not Live to Tell, Drowned world or Paradise (Not For Me) but they all sang along) Madonna's frustration was apparent during Ray Of Light she kept shouting 'Jump' and 'I can't see you dancing' and 'Come on motherf***ers'.
Credit where credit is due the crowd did get better from Music onwards....I have to say I think the sound track of music mixed with Disco Inferno is one of the best live performances she has ever done! Really love the rift of 'Where's The Party' at the start of the performance. Thank you Madge! For two of the best nights out ever....Can't wait for the next tour!
From Mat:
I went to the seated sections of the venue and I had great seats from where I could see most of the show and the dance routine. Madonna was stunning, like usual, even though the sound was not perfect.
After Get Together, she said to the crowd 'Je vais tout niquer!' which in French means 'I'm gonna rock the hell out of this place!', which she actually did.
Just before Drowned World, she asked us to show her our flags and told us that this concert was the perfect example of people from different countries and belief systems living together....it was moving.
The crowd was not very exited this night but went wild with Sorry and then with I Love New York! Hung Up was a perfect finale.
The show was perfect, she did an amazing job and really gave a lot of herself this night. This really got me lock, stock and barrel for the other shows! Madonna here we go!
From Nelly:
I went to see Madonna's first show in Paris last night! She was full of energy but the people around me (Category 2) did not move their asses, and that was disappointing!
Madonna made an effort to speak French (that's what she said and she did it greatly!) The show is so GOOD! To all the fans: enjoy the show you're lucky to attend.
From Sandro:
I went to see Madonna's first date in Paris this evening! It was very crowded but I had the chance to be very close to the stage. She looks absolutely beautiful! At one point after Get Together she said in French 'Ce soir on vas niquer la place!' (Tonight we're going to fuck this place!).
She really seemed to be in a very good mood. At one moment when she's dancing on the radio during Hung Up I saw her laughing hysterically! She smiled to everybody and went very close to the fans that obviously went wild! AMAZING!
Monday 28 August - POP Bercy, Paris
From Arnaud:
I went to Madonna's second show in Paris on Monday and I really had a great time! Earlier in the afternoon, we went to her hotel, but we arrived quite late and the place was already packed. At least, we didn't have to wait long, she went out about 15 minutes after we arrived, she was wearing her H&M purple tracksuit and a purple cap. She looked amazing! She was just a few feet away from me, once again, I could not believe my eyes.
Then we went to Bercy. The show was incredible. She sounded great, but maybe too much like in the 80's, especially on Lucky Star, her voice was just like on the album version.
She seemed to be very relaxed, she spoke French a lot ('Ce soir on va tout niquer!'), there was much interaction with the audience. At one point in the show, she said that even though we did not speak the same language, we had something in common, we all wanted peace, and she asked the audience to repeat 'We want peace' and 'We don't want war'.
In Let It Will Be, someone threw something on the stage (a T-shirt, maybe), and she kicked it back to the audience. Someone threw it again, and she kicked it back again with a 'FUCK OFF'.
Then she told us that she hoped we were having a good time, because she was very tired ('Je suis très fatiguée'). She had only slept for 3 hours the night before and she thought she would not be able to do the show. She said that when she couldn't get enough sleep, she usually was in a bad mood and got even more pissed off when people threw 'shit' on her stage. 'If I want something that you have, I will take it from you'.
Then she wanted to see the flags in the audience. There were people from Canada, England, Argentina ('Wow! You've come a long way') and Brazil.
The show was just stunning, we had a wonderful time, she looked great, she sounded great, she is amazing! I'm going back on Wednesday and Thursday, I just can't wait!
From David:
This show was just the greatest show I have ever seen, and I say, I will ever see!
David Guetta opened the night with some great music, thanks to him, people sat down and the arena finally got full. The show began with 30 minutes late, anyway, it was WORTH it!
I sat in front of the stage, so I had a whole overview of it. I could see the working with lights and images, for those sitting at the same place, you'd better pay attention to the images!
Madonna opened with a great 'Bonsoir mesdames et messieurs, bienvenue à notre spectacle.....ON VA TOUT NIQUER' (Welcome ladies and gentlemen to our show, we're gonna fuck it all).
The French audience didn't react at all at seeing Madge crucified, but burst out with 'Forbidden Love' and went crazy with 'Isaac' (the best to me).
The 'Sorry' interlude was very upsetting, images of dictators, storms, animals and babies dying....hard to sustain!
The most exciting part took place with 'I don't like cities....' Madgie rock star! She should think about hardrock for her next album!
'Let It Will Be' and she released herself on stage, yelling 'fuck off' to a fan who throw a shirt on it. She took a hat from another. Then pause: Madge slept on stage.
'I am tired. I really am. I only slept 3 hours last night, and I am still on stage, for you! Are you tired? No, you're not! Well, I couldn't sleep. Do you wanna know what kind of things makes me unable to sleep: your throwing things on my stage: let's be clear, if I want something on my stage, I take it from you'.
Then she asked for some flags: Espana, Germany, Brazil, Argentina (gosh guys, you're the greatest) and finally Italy. The crowd went angry and whislted against them (Italy won the Soccer world cup against France). Then Madge ask us to say: 'We want peace, no more war.'
If I had to critize one thing, it would be 'Paradise (Not For Me), a little bit more electronic and less accoutic would have been better.
La Isla bonita, and the crazyness raised! Then Erotica, Lucky Star and Hung Up. I have never seen such a free artist, perfect one, she reached perfection and the money was worth it! A lot of 'artist' have to learn from her. Elle a tout niqué!
From Jeff:
Just back from Paris, the show is fantastic, the stage and the lights and the screen amazing!
I was in the block F, excellent general view but a little far from the stage even I paid the highest price....last tour I was so close to Madonna and with so many crazy funny dancing people in my block, this time they were more quiet even if everybody was up all the show.
My personnal highlights....Get Together, Live To Tell, Forbidden Love, Like It Or Not, I Love New York, Drowned World, Paradise (Not For Me) and Music Inferno to the end.
From Loïc:
I attended the second night of Madonna's stay at Bercy Arena in Paris on the August 28. Let me tell you it was beyond my imagination! I had seen pictures, heard live versions and read review from the show, but it's a completely different thing when you watch it for real!
My sister and I arrived at 3pm, under a pouring rain, but still we managed to be just at the end of the central platform! When the huge disco ball started descending on us, the crowd was out of control!
Madonna was on top form, smiling a lot and trying to speak french ('Mesdames et Messieurs, mes amis, ce soir on va tout niquer!', which is pretty vulgar in French!). I was truly amazed by her (and her musicians) performance of Jump: it was just unbelievable, very energetic and beautiful!
Then when Sorry started, it was boiling hot, everybody was singing and dancing like one! What was in my opinion the best moment of the show was the I Love New York - Ray Of Light part, so full of energy, onstage and on the floor (and the black-and-white choreography!) I really thought my heart was about to stop beating, but when Let It Will Be started straight after, no one could surrender so we kept on dancing!
Fortunately our legs could rest a little during the ballads section, but our voices couldn't! The final disco part of the show was great to, with that fantastic Music Disco Inferno dance routine, this amazing new versions of Erotica and La Isla Bonita and of course the breathtaking ending with Lucky Star/Hung Up....
Everything was incredible, the entire show was flawless, brilliantly staged and decorated. The dancers are fantastic performers (Sofia will you marry me?!), the lights and screen projections are beautiful. I wish I could see the show again, I can't wait for a DVD release! As we say in french: 'simplement parfait! merci!'
From Mat:
I went to the standing section this time and had to take the queue all day long. It was worth it anyway....
Madonna did her show, nothing more, nothing less: she told us that she was tired because she had only slept three hours the last night and that we had better enjoy her show!
Some guy threw shit on her stage two times during Like It Or Not: she kicked it out the first time and the second time she said 'fuck off!' good times.
During Let It Will Be, she almost fell out of the dance floor: half of her body was in the air and several guys from the front row pushed her back on the stage!
During the usual pre-Drowned World speech, she had us repeat 'We want peace' and 'We want some fun'.
I made eye contact with Cloud during Music and I touched him during Hung Up. The show was great but emotionless, I mean it wasn't as good as the 30th....
From Wadie:
I was at Bercy last night (Monday 28th)....Madonna was absolutely magnificent....she is the Ultimate Star! She bonded with the crowd....she spoke a lot of French....For starters, she said 'Bonsoir Paris, Bienvenue à notre spectacle....on va tout niquer ce soir', which means Hello Paris, welcome to our show, we will fuck everything tonight.
At one point, she said (in French again) that she had slept only 3 hours the night before, that she was tired, and that we'd better enjoy the show (needless to say that she didn't look tired). Of course, after she sang I Love New York, she reassured the French crowd and said 'I love Paris', at which point the crowd went totally wild.
I thought that she was very close to her public and fans. What more can I say....she was out of this world....as usual!
From Xavier:
I’ve been in Bercy yesterday and I have no words for saying how fantastic the show was!
Madonna was wonderful and much more receptive than her first show in Paris. She went down the stage and made the people became crazy. Everybody was screaming, dancing and having fun during all the show. I think that she saw how much we were hot ‘cos in the end of Drowned World/Substitute For Love, the crowd sang so much that it was hard for the Queen Of Pop to listening to herself. Even that the last sentence has been hard to come as it gave her a big emotion.
Everybody jumped when she asked us to do this. She said in the beginning: 'Ce soir on va tout niquer!' a big sentence that came true. During the speech just after Let It Will Be, she spoke about the things that some fans had thrown to the stage and that she threw back disparagingly as fast as they arrived. She said: 'If I want something from you, I just come and get it!' everybody cheered her at this.
She also said after I Love New York that she loved Paris and London too, she said: 'Paris and I have a point in common, we want peace' and she asked us to repeat this: 'We want peace, let’s have fun!' There were many connections between Madonna and the public in this show.
The two hours of concert were magical, and the interlude of Music makes the fans become mad and screaming during the thousandth of seconds where the screen let the people hear and see the Dress You Up and Holiday of the Virgin Tour and BAT version. As she’s the Queen Of Pop for more than 20 years, and as we’re all in fond of her, we continue to free our soul and lose control for her.
Wednesday 30 August - POP Bercy, Paris
From Laurent:
It was amazing! She was fabulous, marvelous and so beautiful and exciting. She makes the audience hot. Everybody in the arena was dancing, screaming, singing. I have never seen it before!
She was close to her fans. During her speech, she said: 'Ha, je suis fatiguée and you?', the audience replied: 'NO!' Then she said: 'Je suis chaude!' Sorry 'J'ai chaud and you?' The audience replied: 'Yes!' and then she asked the audience: 'Why are you hot? She answer with a great full accent and fun: 'Parce que je suis la reine?' And then everybody in the arena was screaming and everything come crazy!
She spoke about love and the world: 'We are many people here from different country, but we are tonight ONE because we are loving us and we gonna fuck George W.Bush!' After that the show goes on as disco party like I have never seen before.
Thank you Madonna for all and for all pleasure you gave me for more than 20 years now. I love you forever.
From Mat:
Standing section again! It was by very far the best of the three shows I attended! I was so close to her, it was amazing! She's so beautiful!
It was like having a God going to and fro on a stage....she was glorious. Madonna was on fire this night: she did a great show and really had fun doing it! After all, it was time to celebrate her 50th Confessions concert!
She played with the crowd several times and just after Let It Will Be, she stayed on the floor a few seconds and laughed to herself....I don't know what happened but it was fun.
The guitar solo on I Love New York lasted much longer than usual! She went wild with her guitar! During Let It Will Be, she forgot to put her hand in her pants.
She messed up the 'Show me your flags' section: she failed to recognise the Croatian flag and told a Spanish guy that he was holding a Portuguese flag....oh well....she's forgiven anyway.
Then she played with us when we repeated 'We want peace' and even 'Fuck George Bush!' At some point, she wanted to repeat something but the crowd didn't really grasped it and she said 'You're pathetic!' It was awesome....
She also said that she loved Paris! She asked us if we wanted her to move to Paris! The crowd went wild! Then she said 'I might write a song called I Love Paris'....
She made eye contact with me during La Isla Bonita! I was thrilled to death!
I can't believe the Confessions Tour is already over for me! 'I prayed that the days will last, they went so fast....' To me it's the best tour she ever did:it was Madonna, it was thrilling, she's a God, that's all.
From MorganistiK:
I confess: I didn't thought I'd go to see this tour as I couldn't buy a ticket so I was spending my time on internet to watch videos of the concerts. But my lucky star sent me a last minute unexpected ticket and I must admit that I was really impressed.
Madonna is beautiful, wonderful, powerful, very funny during the contacts with the crowd and her French sessions. She said again 'Ce soir on va tout niquer!' = 'Tonight we're going to fuck it all!' and 'Je suis fatiguée' = 'I'm tired', but no one believed her on that point.
The dancers are amazing, the yamakasis are crazy to see in action and the screenings are excellents, the decorations well found. My two moments of strong emotions were 'Future Lovers' with 'I Feel Love' and the crucifixion scene. Otherwise I just danced for 2 hours! Thank you Madonna for all that.
From Paul:
At the end of the concert, Stuart Price seemed to be mad like hell. He kept saying 'Awful, the sound is awful'. Madonna at one point talked to him, there just seemed to be a sound problem. Her voice was drowned in the bass line.
Madonna kept staring at Stuart and did not seem to happy. I just happened to be exactly where I could see their interactions.
Another funny point that nobody mentionned. At one point during the concert, Madonna asks people in the crowd where they are from (right before her 'WE ARE ALL ONE' part). One girl yelled 'Lisbon'. Madonna said: 'Lisbon, I like Spain.' The crowd laughed and it only took one minute before she corrected and said: 'Oh sorry, Lisbon, Portugal....'
Thursday 31 August - POP Bercy, Paris
From Jérémie:
I was at yesterday's show and that's the best Madonna concert I lived (I was there in 2001 and 2004). I was already at the show on Sunday and shouldn't have been there yesterday. But I came instead of my sweet 'stepsister' Hélène (aka 'Cookie': I love you) cos her back was hurting. So, I went there with her girlfriend Maryline I was very very near Madonna and the crowd was wild. I've never been that near from Madonna before.
She talked a lot during the show, in French and in English. The show was amazing. What a surprise to have Lenny Kravitz during I Love New York. He even sang with her during the chorus. During the speech after Let It Will Be, she said she was sad because it was her last show in Paris. She made us sing a little song too (We are one, no more pain, etc etc). She was soooo talkative. She said she has collaborated with French people during all her career and named Jean-Paul Gaultier, Mondino and Mirwais. The crowd was crazy. Her last Paris shows are always the best ones.
She made us sing during La Isla Bonita and my friend Lisy was singing like crazy just in her mic. And, oh God, when we went out of Bercy I could get photographed with one of the dancers: I don't remember his name but he's French. Thank you so much Joe (aka Hk) for taking that pictures. Madonna rocks. I will never forget that night.
From Jeremy:
I just got back home from Madonna's last concert in Paris and it kicked ASS! What to say but ecstatic?! Madonna was in great shape and we had the privilege to see Mr Lenny Kravitz himself play guitar on a furious 'I Love New York'!
This show rocked my night just as Madonna rules the pop scene! I just wish I could've seen her one more time to go crazy not fearing to lose nor waste any detail of the show. Madonna, I just love you! And Mr Guy Oseary , thanks soooo much for putting this all together! Long live the legend!
From Johann:
I was at the front row at the little stage at the end of the catwalk and just when Madonna appeared on stage you could see immediately she was feeling really fine; large smile - the tone was given.
Amazing show, Madonna in really good shape and really relaxed, she even didn't fuck up any single words during all the show, no technical problems too, just perfect.
Mr Lenny Kravitz himself was on stage and play electric guitar with Madonna during I Love New York and Ray Of Light (Madonna and him were on fire together and did incredible things with their guitars).
Madonna gave the mic to everybody from the front row and we had to say wich country we were coming from and just after she improvised a little song which was like 'Wwe want peace (x2), no more war (x2), let's fuck G.W. Bush, let's have some fun, Italy get the job done!'
At one moment she shook her ass at the camera during about one minute it was very funny. Madonna gave us the mic for us to sing several times and everytime with a beautifull smile.
She also said her now famous 'On va tout niquer!' and that she was sad cause it was her last show in Paris in an exellent French. Just one word: PERFECT!
From Olivier:
I've seen all Madonna's tour in Paris since 1987 and the concert of yesterday was fantastic. It's incredible to see Madonna's energy after all these years!
Everything was incredible but the most magical moments I found were her appearance in the disco ball (the crowd was so excited!), the Live To Tell moment on the shining cross, so beautifully sang with terrific lights....and a very hot time when Lenny Kravitz himself joined her and played the guitar during I Love New York.
She said that she was very sad that it was her last show in Paris, we now wait for the next tour!
From Philippe:
Last night was special and amazing. The songs were the same, but Madonna really different, and we got a huge suprise.
At the beginning of I Love New York, LENNY KRAVITZ appeared on the middle of the crowd on the center stage. Madonna and the crowd went wild. The song was so rock, so sex and so crazy. Madonna screamed 'Mr Lenny Kravitz'. They sang it together, playing guitars. They were screaming and in a perfect connection.
Lenny kravitz was in a total white outfit and madonna in all black. They were both so exciting, at one moment, he did a reverence to her, later, they were both on they knees. At the end of the song, they kissed. people went absolutely MAD.
Later in the show, Madonna sat on the stairs on the middle of the stage. She said she was sad, and ask about us. She looked like crying, she said 'It s the last show in Paris, and I like you and Paris so much guys!' she named 'Jean-Paul Gaultier, Jean-Baptiste Mondino and Mirwais, as friends and inspiration.'
A moment later, she stopped also singing and began to look all the flags around her. She named the countries and she laughed about it....she named 'Germany, Portugal, Italy, Israel, Brazil, Argentina, and even Corsica!....it took a long time.
Then, she said to us, 'We are all coming from diffrents countries, differents cultures, differents religions, differents opinions but tonight, we are ONE....and she asked us to scream after her, WE ARE ONE, WE ARE ONE, NO MORE WAR, WE WANT PEACE, NO MORE BLOOD, WE WANT PEACE, WE WANT LOVE, WE WANT LOVE, WE ARE LOVE....' It was so emotional. They were tears on my face, and it was the same for the people around me.
I saw all the shows of Madonna, since 'Who s That Girl' tour in 1987 in Nice (France ) till last night, but I never seen madonna like that. She changed a lot. She cares about the world, about us, about people. I never see us speaking so much during a show, and paying so much attention to the crowd.
It was a magic night, absolutely fabulous.
