Confessions On A G-A-Y Dance Floor
Posted: 31 October 2005 - Thanks to Andy
London club G-A-Y have confirmed on their website that Madonna's appearance at the club will take place on Saturday 19 November.
Many fans are asking how they can get tickets for this event, but at the moment no details are known, however this email is what was sent out to G-A-Y members:
All I'm going to say at this stage is to be patient and details will be announced, but I will give you a little bit of advice, anyone posting messages on the G-A-Y website or anyone saying that they have inside information are not telling the truth.
The only person announcing anything will be me & that will not happen until every tiny detail is in place, so don't get Hung Up & just wait for the CONFESSIONS ON A G-A-Y DANCE FLOOR.

I was a terrible patient
Posted: 31 October 2005 - From IrishExaminer.com
Madonna was a terrible patient as nurses tried to keep her calm after her horse fall 10 weeks ago - because she refused to stop 'freaking out'.
The pop superstar was thrown from a pal's polo horse on her birthday and knocked unconscious. When she came round she attempted to get up and passed out again.
As well as her fainting spell, Madonna cracked her scapula and broke four ribs - and couldn't believe she'd ruined her summer by falling from a horse.
She recalls: 'I had to be rushed to the hospital and have a thousand X-rays and I was totally in denial. I was screaming at the nurses; they weren't very happy with me.'
'I just thought: 'Oh God, the rest of my summer's ruined, I won't be able to dance anymore, I won't be able to do yoga anymore. How long will I be an invalid and incapacitated?' I just freaked out.'
Madonna is well on her way to making a full recovery but she's still in a lot of pain: 'One of my ribs hasn't gone together. I broke four ribs and so they're sort of waving around; they haven't joined up yet. It's very complicated and very painful.'

Newspapers: USA Today
Posted: 29 October 2005 - Article By Elysa Gardner - thanks to Alex
Yesterday's edition of newspaper USA Today featured this article about Madonna:
Whoever said size matters obviously never met Madonna.
In person, the most durable and deconstructed pop icon of the past two decades is a wee slip of a thing. The face that launched a thousand trends is delicately featured, the yoga-toned frame so slight that you wonder how Madonna could have emerged intact after tumbling off a horse in August, on her 47th birthday.
The singer did break four ribs, her clavicle and bones in a hand and shoulder as a result of that accident, which took place at the estate she shares with her husband, filmmaker Guy Ritchie, and two children, 9-year-old Lourdes and 5-year-old Rocco, in the English countryside. But nine weeks later, Madonna is cast-free.
'I feel good,' she says, perching daintily on a sofa. 'But then I try to exercise or do something, and I realize that my bones aren't completely together yet.'
The woman who coined the term 'blond ambition' is not, however, going to let a few aches and pains interfere with her work. Madonna is in town to promote Confessions on a Dance Floor, her first album since 2003's American Life, which arrives Nov. 15. The first single, Hung Up - a thumping, shimmering confection that samples the ABBA hit Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) - was introduced last week on MTV's Total Request Live and will be featured on crossover episodes of CBS' CSI: Miami (Nov. 7) and CSI: NY (Nov. 9).
MTV also premiered Madonna's new documentary, I'm Going to Tell You a Secret, last Friday. The film, which will re-air on the VH1 and Logo Networks, follows the star on and offstage during her 2004 Reinvention Tour, juggling concert performances with footage of Madonna clowning around with her dancers and crewmates, and with Ritchie and the kids. There are more serious moments as well, with Madonna reflecting on how her life and views have evolved.
'It's like me keeping a journal, but it's visual,' says Madonna, whose recent projects have included a fifth children's book, Lotsa de Casha, and a kiddie clothing line inspired by the 'very opinionated' Lourdes. 'But I never intended (Secret) to come out at the same time as my record. It took me twice as long to edit as I had expected.'
Accentuating the personal
Secret does share with Confessions an unabashedly personal tone. Madonna has described the latter as an unapologetic dance album 'about having a good time straight through and non-stop.' Dig beneath the buoyant beats and neo-disco arrangements, though, and you'll find wistful undercurrents in both the music and lyrics.
'That's why I called it Confessions on a Dance Floor,' Madonna explains. 'Most people equate dance music with being fluffy and superficial; it's just about having fun. That's fine, but I can't write 12 songs about nothing. My feelings or point of view inevitably sneaks in.'
Like 1998's Ray of Light, the first album Madonna released after becoming a mother, Confessions juggles state-of-the-art production - Madonna co-wrote and produced the songs with Stuart Price, musical director for her past two tours, with additional help from American Life producer Mirwais Ahmadzai (also Madonna's collaborator on 2000's Music) and others - with age-old spiritual questions, albeit filtered through a modern star's perspective. 'Should I carry on? Will it matter when I'm gone?' she asks on the introspective How High.
'I'm constantly trying to figure out what my place in the world is,' she says. 'That search was obviously instigated by the birth of my daughter. In my film, I talk about how I woke up one day and thought, 'my God, I'm about to have a baby; how am I going to teach my child what the meaning of life is when I don't know myself?' If she asks why she's here and who is God or why are people suffering, I want to have answers. And I want to ask those questions, too.'
One song, the Middle Eastern-flavored Isaac, has already generated controversy in the print press and online. 'Jewish mystics to Madonna: Lay off our sage!,' screamed one headline, a reference to certain Israelis' outrage over the singer's supposed decision to allude to that movement's founder, 16th-century mystic Isaac Luria.
But Madonna claims Isaac was actually named after Yitzhak Sinwani, a Yemeni singer who appears on the track. 'The album isn't even out, so how could Jewish scholars in Israel know what my song is about? I don't know enough about Isaac Luria to write a song, though I've learned a bit in my studies.'
'But I've never heard that it's blasphemous for anyone to mention the names of catalysts. That's just a religious organization claiming ownership of something. 'This is our information; you're not Jewish and you can't know about it,' or, 'You're female and you can't know about it.' That's religious thinking.'
Religion vs. spirituality
Madonna, whose Catholic upbringing also continues to inform her work, is keen to distinguish such thinking from the kind of reflection that drew her to the Kaballah. 'I like to draw a line between religion and spirituality. For me, the idea of God, or the idea of spirit, has nothing to do with religion. Religion is about separating people, and I don't think that was ever the Creator's intention. That's just people's need to belong to a group and feel good about themselves.'
'Just about every war that's ever been started has been started in the name of God. It's, 'I belong to this group; my group's better than your group, so if you're not in this group, we're going to kill you.' For me, religious thinking is synonymous with tribalism. You're not thinking for yourself; you're doing things because that's what somebody else did, or it's how your family taught you to behave and think.'
With her own family, Madonna says, she encourages a more inclusive approach to spiritual education. 'Because I study Kaballah, my children are exposed to it. We go to a Torah reading every Saturday morning. And my daughter goes to spirituality-for-kids classes. But it's non-denominational; there are kids who are Muslims, Jews, Christians, atheists, whatever.'
Lourdes and Rocco also seem to have absorbed their mother's love of dance, though with very different results. Madonna's daughter has been taking ballet lessons since she was 4. 'I didn't start till I was 12, which in the world of ballet is late, and I moved from ballet into modern and jazz. (Lourdes) has more of a ballerina's body, with these beautiful ballerina's feet.'
'No lessons for my son, though. His style is sort of street. If I ask him to dance for me, he never will, but if there's music on in the playroom, he'll dance by himself. I have to sneak up on him. He loves R&B and hip-hop, and he dances that way. It's very funny. I don't know where he got it from - I mean, he goes to the Lycee (Francais School) in London. But I think things like dancing, and what you're drawn to musically, are instinctual.'
During the school year, Madonna, her children and Ritchie are based in London. 'We go to the country house on weekends, or in the summer,' she says. 'I'm a city girl. If I hadn't married Guy, I'm sure I wouldn't have grown to appreciate the beauty of the countryside. There's an idyllic peacefulness there you couldn't find anywhere else. Now I can tolerate being in the city because I have a place to escape to, where I can leave the door open and my children can run outside. It's the one place I can feel like everybody else.'
Well, almost like everybody else. Of reports that she doesn't allow Lourdes and Rocco to watch TV, Madonna first says, 'I was raised without television. They watch films, and my daughter always has her nose in a book. I don't get the sense that they feel deprived. I don't know why that's shocking.'
But Madonna also admits she is concerned about the impact too much contemporary pop culture could have on her offspring in particular. 'TV is horrifying,' she says. 'Everything is so celebrity-obsessed, and I'm a celebrity. Why confuse my children with that?'
As things stand, of course, Madonna's kids 'get photographed everywhere they go. There are so many more paparazzi now. Because of the Internet, there are all these new agencies. It's created a whole new line of work for people, where you've got to follow people to the end of the earth and climb fences.'
Survival tactics
Such comments may seem ironic coming from someone whose rise and continuing fame have been credited at least in part to masterful marketing, and who is widely considered the first superstar made by, of and for the video age. And Madonna doesn't want to bite the hand that has fed her.
'As you go on making records, everyone keeps predicting your demise,' she says. 'It almost seems like they want you to fail. You have to find a way to be creative and have the freedom to do what you want to do, while also being aware of what the market demands and what people like. It's a fine line to walk, and there's a lot of competition.'
Certainly, Madonna's imitators and inheritors are legion, from teen upstarts to Britney Spears to 36-year-old Gwen Stefani, whose solo album featured virtual homages to her obvious idol. 'She ripped me off, so we mutually agreed that I could rip her off,' Madonna quips of Stefani. 'We work with a lot of the same people. She married a Brit, she's got blond hair and she likes fashion. But I don't mind. I think she's very sweet and really talented.'
Besides, Madonna still has a few role models of her own. She continues to feel a strong connection to the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. 'Her work was very confessional, and told you a lot about what was going on in her life. But you never knew exactly what was true and what was false and what she was overdramatizing. She was creating a myth about herself. But she used it as an educational tool for herself and, I think, for other people.'
'That's how I think of my work. I do self-portraits. People put me into all different categories: I'm a material girl, a sex goddess, a mother, spiritual. But I love contradiction. There's always a mystery, always a whole other life going on.'

Madonna scores 51st entry on U.S. singles chart
Posted: 29 October 2005 - From Reuters/Billboard Via Yahoo! - thanks to Christopher
Madonna made her debut on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart 22 years ago with 'Holiday.'
This week, she scored her 51st chart entry as 'Hung Up,' the first track from her November 15 release, 'Confessions on a Dance Floor,' made a lofty entrance at No. 20. It's the sixth Madonna song to debut in the top 20, and the first since 'Ray of Light' beamed onto the list at No. 5 in 1998.
Madonna's highest-ranking debuts to date are:
'Ray of Light,' debuted at No. 5 (1998)
'You'll See,' No. 8 (1995)
'Frozen,' No. 8 (1998)
'Erotica,' No. 13 (1992)
'Rescue Me,' No. 15 (1991)
'Hung Up,' No. 20 (2005)
'Hung Up' is already Madonna's highest-charting single since 'Die Another Day' peaked at No. 8 three years ago. Of Madonna's 51 chart entries, 42 have placed in the top 20. If 'Hung Up' continues its journey up the Hot 100, it could become the 36th Madonna song to land in the top 10.

Australian Newspapers: Madonna looms
Posted: 27 October 2005 - From the Herald Sun By Cameron Adams - thanks to Chris
Madonna has promised Australia will be part of her next world tour. Madonna's last two tours bypassed Australia. Her last visit was 12 years ago on the Girlie tour in 1993.
'I had a really great time last time I was in Australia, but I know it was a long time ago,' Madonna, 47, said yesterday.
'It's just Australia is so far away and the last two tours I had to cram everything into my children's summer vacations. But I really don't want to pass Australia by next time.'
Madonna, who has sold four million records in Australia and 200 million worldwide, is planning a world tour for 2006, once again around schooling for daughter Lourdes, 9, and son Rocco, 4.
The tour will be 'about discotheques and disco balls,' she said, and comes after her return to dance albums with Confessions on a Dance Floor, recorded without gaps between tracks to simulate a DJ set. The album will be released on November 14.
Tour dates are reportedly already locked in for Japan.
'If I go to Japan I'll go to Australia, I promise!' Madonna said.

Stuart Price dismisses the Madonna myths
Posted: 26 October 2005 - From Channel 4 - thanks to Robster
Ladies and gents, it’s Stuart Price! He’s the technical wizard who’s been producing Madge’s new album, 'Confessions On A Dancefloor', and knock us down with a feather if he didn’t call us up for a chat the other day!
Aside from spilling the beans about Madge, he told us all about his favourite tracks on the album, one of which he had nothing to do with and the other of which he had plenty to do with. Over to you, Stuart!
'The last track, ’Like It Or Not’, is my favourite of the songs I had nothing to do with. I like it because, as the title suggests, you can’t sit on the fence about it. It’s a pretty honest statement from her and one of the good things about the new record is she’s not complaining about anything. This song is someone baring their soul and saying: 'You’ve just listened to what I do and this is who I am.’ It’s a good sentiment to end a record on. Musically, the reason I like it is because it sounds like an old folk Pentangle record with that acoustic guitar. It could’ve almost been in 'A Mighty Wind'!
'My favourite out of the ones I produced, aside from 'Hung Up,' is 'Forbidden Love'. The whole album was done in my flat and mixed by someone in a commercial studio but 'Forbidden Love' wasn’t. It was started in the loft and we finished it and mixed it there. It was really home-baked! That one will always be special for me.'
Aw! Isn’t he sweet!
Madonna Myth 1: She’s a religious nutter!
'That’s absolutely false. I’d just describe her as an extreme intellectual. The girl has got far too much going on in her head to be passive to religion and spirituality. She’s always looking for answers, she’s a big questioner of life.
I’m not surprised people call her a religious nut, but actually she’d be the first to say that her Kabbalah is not a religion, it’s a study. I’d quash all that religious bollocks in a second 'cause I’ve never got that from her. She’s quite pushy, she’ll say: 'I think you should read about this because I think it’s good for you.' But on a personal level that’s her being a friend rather than being a saleswoman.'
Madonna Myth 2: She’s past her sell-by date!
'Bollocks! Whatever her age, it’s immaterial. When you sit in a room with her working on stuff, she could just be some 18 year old singer. Albeit an 18 year old with a lot of experience! She’s got this inherent understanding of dance music and pop music and she more than belies her age.'
Madonna Myth 3: She can’t actually sing!
'Also bollocks. The first thing that impressed me about her, when we were in the rehearsal studio before the tour, was how well she could sing. We were doing that song from 'Ray of Light', 'Substitute For Love', and there’s no studio trickery. I just thought: 'Bloody hell, she’s brilliant.'
Madonna Myth 4: She doesn’t really produce her own records!
'All my answers are 'bollocks!' I was hoping there was something I could agree with! She’s more like the old school producer. With modern producers, you expect to see them behind computers and keyboards, but the best thing about the way she produces is she never touches anything. She sits there on the couch at the back, pores over everything and tells you where it’s going wrong.
I can stay up till three or four in the morning working on a song, thinking that I’m re-inventing the wheel. By 11am I realise it’s the biggest pile of bollocks I’ve ever made, but she can come in and tell you what the good bit is. I think that makes a good producer.'
Madonna Myth 5: She smells of horses!
'I don’t think I’ve ever detected the odour of a horse on her. And it’s quite a distinctive smell isn’t it? Not that I’ve hung around that many stables or anything. I’ve never detected that kind of musky odour on her. I’m sure I found a long horsehair in her jacket once, though.'
Well, we’re convinced. Thanks Stuart! What a lovely fella. He knows Madonna, you know!

Liz Smith on Madonna, the Queen of Clubs
Posted: 25 October 2005 - From the New York Post
'Gee, it's nice to get out of the house!' That's what Madonna, wife and mother of two kids, said around 3:30am. Saturday night at the Roxy. To say that Madonna is working hard to make her coming 'Confessions on A Dance Floor' CD a hit, would be putting it mildly. She has sat for a dozen interviews, she has cantered down the streets of NYC on a horse with David Letterman. (Her first equine experience since that terrible fall in England.) And Saturday night, she put in a surprise appearance at the Roxy, the famous downtown disco where it began for M more than 20 years ago. The Roxy will close next year....
The star materialized in front of several thousand screaming weekend party-ers. Wearing a blue dress that looked transparent under the strong lights, she carried a 12-inch vinyl record of 'Confessions' to hand to the DJ. 'I can't believe I'm back here after all this time, with twelve inches' she said, deadpan. And then she danced and danced and danced. She pulled stunned and thrilled boys up from the floor and writhed like a teenager herself. (When her new songs 'Sorry' and 'Hung Up' blasted out, the place went crazy!)
She lingered for hours after, chatting informally with everybody who approached. The star left at 4:00am. looking fresh. Everybody, including Madonna herself said it was just like the good old days. For a few hours it was.

For Madonna, the play's the thing
Posted: 24 October 2005 - From MSNBC's Jeannette Wall's The Scoop - thanks to Alex
Will Madonna do Broadway? The Material Girl has written a lot of material for a musical. 'I did write about 20 songs over the last couple of years for a musical, for which I never ended up doing,' Madonna told a Canadian reporter from eTV.
Madonna also hinted that she may be turning into a stage mom. She said she herself may one day take the lead role, or she quipped, 'I’ll just wait a couple years and my daughter can do it.'
In other Madonna news, apparently she and Michael Moore discussed the possibility of his directing her documentary, 'I’m Going To Tell You a Secret' - which has been getting a very chilly reception from critics.
'Michael Moore was very instrumental in helping me, even before I began filming,' Madonna told the London Telegraph. “He actually offered to direct it, but he was editing 'Fahrenheit 9/11'. He said, 'Can’t you delay your tour and do it later?' and I said no.'

Hey there....just wanted to let you know that I got a press version of the 4 disc set and Madonna's part is cut. Although the songs are all there, her interaction with the audience is cut down as well as her 'Well, go!' bit before Ray of Light. On the 'plus' side, there are a lot of different camera angles used that weren't in the live broadcast.

Madonna Parties With New York Hip Kids!
Posted: 24 October 2005 - From www.cduk.co.uk
When was the last time you heard about the Grand Dame of Pop hitting a club where mere mortals were allowed to boogie-woogie?
Well just two days ago at tiny indie hipster club MisShapes in New York Madge hit the dancefloor and got sweaty with a load of twenty-somethings.
It was not a guest list event, there was no red rope, in fact, you could have been there - and no doubt you would've been if you lived in NYC and were over the age of 21!
Anyway, Madonna rocked up with her mate Stuart Price, aka Jacques Lu Cont, aka Les Rhythmes Digitales, aka frontman of Zoot Woman, aka Madonna's erstwhile collaborator, who was scheduled to DJ that night along with DJ Junior Sanchez.
According to various eyewitness reports Madge waltzed in through the front door with a 12 strong entourage and headed straight for the upstairs DJ booth where she introduced her new single and then proceeded to dance the night away.
We have to admit our love for Madonna was on the wane, what with her love for tweed, children's stories and all that kabbalah nonsense, but after these pics of her partying like a normal person, we've found our affections for Madge rejuvenated!
Plus her new ABBA-sampling single is kick a**!
That also helps her cause!

Madonna is still the leader of the pack
Posted: 24 October 2005 - From Newsday.com - by Glenn Gamboa
First things first. If Madonna released her 'American Life' single and video today, instead of two years ago, it would have been huge.
She was so forward-thinking with her anti-war sentiments and her complaints against excess that the American mainstream is only catching up to her now. Of course, now that most of the country is on the same page that she was, Madonna has jumped to a whole new book entirely.
'Hung Up,' the first single from her forthcoming 'Confessions on a Dance Floor' (Warner Bros.) album, is pure escapism, a throwback to the late '70s, a time when Americans turned to disco and debauchery to forget about inflation caused by high gas prices and failed foreign policy.
It's catchy, riding a sample from ABBA's 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' for nearly the entire song, and it floats by effortlessly, with barely a thought in its airhead, as the chugga-chugga beat pounds on.
The song's success is essentially a sure thing, but the real question will be how many similar-sounding dance acts will Madonna - and her collaborator, Stuart Price, known for his work as nu-disco king Jacques Le Cont - take with her up the charts.
Juliet is a good bet, since Price produced her debut 'Random Order' (Virgin). 'Random Order' is packed with intricate, dance tracks like 'Avalon' and 'Ride the Pain,' which are more memorable for their beats than her vocals. Cut Copy is another good possibility, since the Aussie trio isn't ashamed to show off its love for the dance stylings of Le Cont and his pals Daft Punk on its debut 'Bright Like Neon Love' (Ada).
And maybe with Madonna's help, nu-disco pioneers Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx will finally get the American audience they deserve.
I danced with Madonna!
Posted: 23 October 2005
madonnalicious visitor Danny was one of the lucky guys Madonna pulled from the crowd last night to dance with her onstage at the Roxy:
I was right up infront against the barrier. The crowd was going crazy. Madonna was making eye contact with me the whole time she even held my hand on three ocassions, by that time I was completely satisfied, but I had no idea was was about to happen next....
I kept yelling 'New York Loves You! New York Loves You!' while she was singing 'I love NY'. Then she crouches down and says right to me 'Lets have a dance' doing the whole come here gesture with her finger. I then pulled myself up with help from the crowd behind me....and there I was standing before the Queen of Pop herself!
I began to bow while the crowd was going apeshit. People were screaming their heads off and she then asked me if I was having a good time, I told her I was having the time of my life. Then she grabed my hand and pulled me in. We immediately started a sort of salsa. We were twirling and grinding. The crowd was going nuts. I actually felt alot of pressure at first from the crowd but she totally made feel comfortable by taking the lead, LOL!
After about 5 min of dancing she says to me if there is anyone else I would like to have come up and dance with us. I then pointed to my best friend and he came right up.
He immediately started dancing then she pulls me over and says to us:
'You, grind me from the front.'
Then she says to my friend:
'Grind me from the back'
IT WAS INSANE!! The crowd went crazy!
We eventually finished our dance and she said thank you to my friend and me. She then pulled up to other happy boys and danced with them as well. It was seriously one of the happiest moments in my lilfe. Who gets to say they danced with Madonna?!
You can see a picture of Danny (on the right) dancing with Madonna here.

The Queen of NYC Clubs: Roxy
Posted: 23 October 2005
After Madonna had been at MisShapes she then went onto the Roxy and drove the crowd wild, three songs from the new album were played, Hung Up, I love New York and Sorry. Here are some reports from fans lucky enough to be in the club:
From Howie:
She came on shortly after 2:00am, and through out the whole night, when Peter sampled Hung Up, the crowd went wild! Then as 'time goes by....so slowly for those who wait' when there was a pause....people were chanting....MADONNA....MADONNA....when she finally went on, she came out and said that 'How can I be in NYC without coming to Roxy? Roxy and I go way back. So I am here to dance with you tonight to my new song' (well, something like that, but with a lot more cursing) then Hung Up was played, and everyone went WILD!
Then she stays on for another 20 minutes dancing with people on the stage and grabbing people off the dancefloor to dance with her....the place was sooo packed, more packed than when she did the Ray of Light promo at Roxy, the air was so thick no one could really breathe....but in the long run, it was worth it.
She wore a similar dress as when she was on TRL....and she had the diamond eyelashes too....she looked AMAZING! She was gorgeous and looked so young, happy, and vibrant.
See Howie's pictures below.
From MadonnasMatrix:
Time goes by so slowly....and we just waiting there and every now and then a Madonna voice clip would come on one talking about the disco balls and another saying something like I've got a secret to tell you. And whenever that would happen the crowd would erupt and shove and push and get crazy (a bit horrible at times).
Then Rauhofer puts on a Hung Up remix but then he quickly puts on a house beat called 'Ha Ha Ha Guess Again' so we wait....lots of security checking the stage over and over then about 1:55am a crowd gathers on stage and Liz Rozenberg is seen so that confirms what we all knew anyway, Madonna's about to show.
It happens quick, we see the frame of the most famous woman on earth and BOOM lights on! Royal Blue dress, hair done in the 'weenie roll' couldn't see her feet but I'm sure she matched LOL. She mouths OH MY GOD when she sees the crowd and the way they are loving her. She says a few words and no one can hear so she gets a bit louder and we go even more crazy.
She says 'I have bit of history here at the Roxy' the crowd goes crazy you get the drift about the crowd. She says well I came out here to dance with you guys for a bit! (I paraphrase because I can't hardly remember with the excitement and all). She says 'STUART HIT IT!' We can see Stuart's big smile in the DJ booth. And the CROWD GOES BALLISTIC - MADONNA is dancing with a group of dancers dressed very 70's style, she's jamming and shaking and going down to the floor Oh my god it was the best!
First song was Hung Up remix, then I made out the song I Love New York! It wasn't the rock one like the documentary version it was very dance. Then after that I heard a song where she's saying I'm Sorry a lot I think. She pulled 3 people out of the crowd and DANCED WITH THEM! They weren't cast members they were really fans and guys that were waiting in the crowd. She loved the crowd she came right up to the edge of stage and shook her tatas and shook her hair at us and shook hands and clapped hands it was great.
Boy was Madonna giving it her all, seriously she was, she was sweating it up, she took a little second to wipe her face and she came right back at us dancing and doing her thing!
Here is a picture from fellow fansite DrownedMadonna of Madonna at the Roxy:
From Scott:
I saw Madonna perform at the Roxy in New York on Saturday night. She came on around 1:30am. I think, and the place was packed. She was totally blown away by how many people were there. She looked very beautiful and youthful - in a turquoise dress that she twirled up a few times to reveal a black leotard underneath.
Guy Oseary and an entourage of about 20 people came out on stage with her and hung in the background and/or danced with her.
The best part when Madonna scanned the crowd so she could bring a lucky fan on stage with her. She picked a cute guy, who had the hugest smile and could not believe his luck to be dancing with Madonna. Madonna whispered something to him, which I surmised was, 'Do you have a boyfriend?' He went over to the crowd and pointed at someone, and Madonna's bodygaurds pulled another guy up. She whispered something to them, and they started grinding her in a 'sandwich!' The crowd went NUTS.
It's hard to say how long the act lasted, but I'd say about 40 minutes. She talked to us at the beginning and mentioned her long history with the Roxy, and then she lip-synched a Peter Rauhoffer remix of 'Hung Up' and another song I didn't recognize. I wish everyone in the crowd was a little more courteous, but it was all worth it, and I'd move heaven and earth just to be that close to her again. (I was on a riser above the crowd, so I had a really good view - about 15 feet away from her.)
The Queen of NYC Clubs: Luke & Leroys
Posted: 23 October 2005
Madonna made appearances last night at two clubs in New York City, her first appearance was at the MisShapes party at Luke & Leroys in the West Village.
Matt at You Know Music was there and sent in this report:
The rumors proved true and Madonna showed up for a promotional appearance at the MisShapes party at Luke and Leroys in NYC West Village, and I was there for the apperance, thanks to Trent at Pink is the New Blog for the heads up on this one. She showed up 12 people deep in three vehicles wearing an amazing around the neck blue dress. The club is very small and more of a hipster hangout than the big clubs in the Meatpacking district. Because of this they don't have backdoors or secret entrances. She walked right in through the front door. As soon as she came in the crowd went crazy.
She went up to the DJ booth and said a little hello and then introduced her single. Pretended to do a little DJing and the hung out while the at least 20 minute remix version of Hung Up played in the background! The remix was out of control great and sadly it is the kind of thing that probably won't be released. But all in all she looked amazing through a little kiss and said goobye to the packed house before jumping into the three car caravan that whisked her away.

Help Hung Up on radio

From Aaron:
I need some strong armed Madonna fans to help request Hung Up to a local radio station in Charleston, WV (Electric 102.7 WVSR). A small army and myself, have requested over and over to hear the song, but the DJ's refuse to play it! Their defense is that 'people may not like it' and that Madonna has 'lost her touch'.
Please prove them wrong and call their request line on 1-866-660-1027 or 304-345-1027 or vote via internet at: www.electric102.com
From Hector:
Please....all the madonna fans need to call Miami's radio station Y100 and request Hung up because they are playing the song like twice a day, the number is 1866 645 9100, this is a mission for all Madonna fans!
From Thomas:
My local radio station is not playing madonna's new single. It is the 3rd largest in the country (in the U.S.), and is critical for the succss of Hung Up. Follow this link www.channel933.com to request the song!

Madonna worries about boring her fans
Posted: 21 October 2005 - From ABC News
The usually unflappable Madonna had a minor meltdown when she premiered her new documentary in New York, worrying her fans might find it 'boring.'
'I was sitting there in the theater at the back, showing it to people for the first time. I mean, it was like a puddle of sweat around my feet,' Madonna told ABC News Radio's Andrea Dresdale in an exclusive interview.
'It was like, 'Oh my God, oh my God, I hope I did the right thing. Oh, that scene is too long. Oh, that's too short. Are they going to get this part? Are they going to like this? Oh, they're going to think it's boring!' Just worrying the whole way, biting my fingernails off.'
The documentary, 'I'm Going To Tell You A Secret,' premieres on MTV this Friday and follows the pop icon's 'Re-Invention Tour,' from dancer auditions to rehearsals and opening night all the way through the final show and her visit to Israel last fall.
Madonna says she's clearly not the same person who she was when she made her provocative 1993 documentary 'Truth or Dare' - and she hopes fans will appreciate the change.
'It would be kind of tragic and pathetic if I was still the same person,' she says. 'I think that while I had some redeeming traits and qualities when I made 'Truth or Dare,'....there's a lot about me that I think is kind of selfish and kind of juvenile, and I'm happy to know that I've evolved and moved on.'
After working on the new film for a year, Madonna screened the movie for fans and contest winners in New York City, but it has not been shown publicly. But the singer says it reflects her current values.
'When I got to the end of it (the screening)....I could feel that people enjoyed it. That was a huge relief for me,' she says.
'I want everyone to really feel a sense of responsibility for the world around them, but more importantly, I want them to feel inspired and to really feel like they can make a difference. That's really my intention in making the film.'

Material girl gives peace a chance
Posted: 21 October 2005 - From Jeannette Walls The Scoop at MSNBC.com - thanks to Marci
Look out, Angelina Jolie: you’re not the only celeb moonlighting for the UN. Madonna is taking on a role for the world peacekeeping organization.
The one-time Material Girl - who increasingly has been showing interest in world matters - will co-host a gala for the United Nations Association in Pasadena later this week.
Madonna is listed as a committee member for a United Nations 60th anniversary celebration in Pasadena on Oct. 22, according to the group’s Web site; Actor Morgan Freeman is the honorary Chairman of the event, which is being billed as 'supporting the UN vision' including 'keeping peace throughout the world' and 'developing friendly relations among nations.'
'Madonna’s not just the ambitious blonde with the cone bra anymore,' says a source. 'She’s evolved and really cares about world issues.'
madonnalicious visitor Moctezuma has sent in this news about the event:
In case anyone was wondering if Madonna was going to be at this weekend's UN Gala in Pasadena, she will not. I just spoke to the event coordinator and she said 100% she will not be there.

Madonna got back up on the horse again - with an assist from David Letterman. The talk show host and Madonna rode two horses along 53rd Street in Manhattan on the 'Late Show,' the singer's first ride since being thrown from a horse in England this summer.
The battered superstar suffered three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand in the August accident.
Letterman, a novice rider himself, traded stories about tumbles. Madonna explained that she hadn't been back on a horse since her fall 'because my record company is not very keen on the idea of me injuring myself.'
'I have a bit of excitement tainted with fear,' she said before climbing on.

Liz Smith on the documentary
Posted: 20 October 2005 - From the New York Post
Either you do or you don't believe Madonna's midlife conversion to a more spiritual way of life. If you do, you will be touched by her documentary, 'I Am Going to Tell You a Secret.' If you don't, you can still savor brilliant concert footage from last year's 'Reinvention' tour.
The film, directed by Jonas Akerlund, was screened Tuesday night for an audience of dyed-in-the-wool fans. They screamed and applauded throughout. There is intimate and revealing material with her father, her husband, Guy Ritchie, and her two children, Lourdes and Rocco. (Rocco provides rambunctious comedy relief. Lourdes is a soulful beauty.) And while M does quite a bit of 'enlightened' proselytizing here, she has not lost her rowdy sense of humor, her pop-star "attitude" or her sense of the ridiculousness of her position — seeking serenity in the world of showbiz.
It's the flip side of 'Truth or Dare' - the decadent diva of 1990 versus the searching wife and mom of 2005. Fifteen minutes of sharp editing would help, but I'd say the same of 'Truth of Dare,' too. ('Secret' airs tomorrow night on MTV.)
M, who looks stunning on film and in real life (must be those oxygen facials!) partied joyously after, at the Morgan Hotel - those broken bones have healed! To everyone who approached with a compliment, the star said earnestly, 'Did you get it? Did I make my point? I want people to feel better, to be uplifted.' She couldn't be more sincere. And I am not in the least surprised. I never quite believed in Madonna the sexual outlaw. Though she freely admits, 'I had a good time back then.' The good times aren't over, just altered. Life is change.

Madonna explains the origin Of Isaac
Posted: 20 October 2005 - From MTV.com - thanks to Victor
No matter what Madonna does, she courts controversy - and her latest album and documentary are no different.
Confessions on a Dance Floor made news last week when Israeli Kabbalist rabbis declared one of the album's songs to be a 'great sin,' while the tour documentary 'I'm Going to Tell You a Secret' has just started making headlines for some of the religious commentary in it.
'What are you going to do?' Madonna asked in exasperation at the movie's premiere Tuesday night in Manhattan.
The song that has religious leaders up in arms is called 'Isaac,' which the rabbis said was about the 16th century Jewish mystic Yitzhak Luria, whose name, according to Jewish law, is not to be used for profit. Rabbis Rafael Cohen and Israel Deri told the Israeli newspaper Maariv that Madonna singing a song about Luria was 'unacceptable' and that they're asking that she be thrown out of the Kabbalah community.
'The absurd thing is that it's not what they think it is,' Madonna said. 'It's not a song about Isaac Luria. I don't know anything about Isaac Luria, so I couldn't write a song about him. The song is called 'Isaac' because the man who is singing on it is named Isaac. I think one person saw that name and decided that they were going to go out and say I was doing something blasphemous, and it's just not true.'
It is true, though, that religious ideas play a large part in the documentary - they're just not addressed in a shocking way, as the headlines would have you believe.
Yes, she read from the book of Revelations, and yes, her dancers dressed in religious garb and marched down a runway during 'American Life' - but that's old news to anyone who saw her Re-Invention Tour. Madonna's glib commentary about priests and nuns shouldn't shock anyone who's seen her videos, but all the attention on those brief moments undermines the larger themes she tried to get across - bridging religions, bringing people together, hoping for peace.
Perhaps her message was most clearly expressed through her cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine,' which she played each night on the tour. 'I think John Lennon was a prophet in so many ways,' Madonna said. 'It could have been written 100 years ago or 100 years from now, the words still mean the same.'
The song doesn't present a message particular to her Kabbalist leanings, she emphasized. 'I would make a distinction between spirituality and religion,' she said. 'To a large degree, religion does separate people, you know: 'This is my group; if you're not in this group, I'm better than you.' And there's a lot of discrimination in the world because of that. I'm a big fan of being spiritual. I'm not a big fan of being religious in that sort of elitist way.'
Madonna said spirituality is even more powerful than politics when it comes to changing the world for the better. 'Historically, you get rid of one despot, another pops in his place,' she said. 'You have to get involved in the community around you, and there's a way you can use politics to make a change, but I don't think it's going to change everything.'
That's why she went to Israel, she said - an experience that caps the end of the documentary. She was originally supposed to perform there, but the shows were canceled for security reasons. While she was there, she gave a fundraising speech in Tel Aviv for Spirituality for Kids, a group whose goals include bringing Israeli and Palestinian kids together.
'They bring kids in from abused homes and they bring them in with their parents and teach them how to relate to one another and to relate to each other with human dignity,' she explained. 'My daughter, who attends classes, is learning about her ego and how she can control it. Who would have thought you could learn that when you were a child?'
'I think it was important to show that aspect, and put my money where my mouth is,' she added. 'Because all during the show, all during the film, I'm saying we have to take responsibility not just for ourselves but the world around us. I talk the talk, do I walk the walk?
'I'm Going to Tell You a Secret' premieres on Friday at 10 p.m. on MTV. That same day, you can catch the in-depth interview 'MTV News Raw: Madonna' exclusively on MTV Overdrive.

I'm Going To Tell You A Secret: Fan stories
Posted: 19 October 2005
Many madonnalicious visitors attended the premiere screening in New York Last night, here are a few of their tales from the event:
From Chris:
The crowd rose and went wild as she made her way to the front of the house. She was accompanied by Stuart Price (Producer) and Liz Rosenberg (and her body guards, of course). She was wearing a sort of flapper looking head band thingy and a wide smile. She looked radiant and happy, I loved it!
She told us to simmer down, listen and to NOT disobey her (loved it even more)! She said NYC is the best city in the world and she is internally grateful for her fans sticking by her through thick and thin. She quoted Paul Sartre at one point, sincerely thanked everybody who made her 'dreams become reality'. Someone in the audience yelled out, 'are you staying with us to watch the movie?' and she responded, 'hell yeah!'
She finished her speech and took her seat right under us! The movie theatre darkened and the anticipation was so high, I could hardly contain myself. The movie starts and the crowd reacts as if it were an actual concert (I'm a bit hoarse this morning because of it, actually). I won't tell you the secret, I'll let you find out for yourself when it airs on MTV this Friday (10/21). But I will say this....this movie is DEEP in so many ways! A definite MUST SEE and UNDERSTAND type of film!
From D Burkman:
Tonight my friend Hezi and I went to the premier of Madonna's new film. Here are the highlights. A medium sized theatre fitting about 500 people. When you walked in the last 5 rows of the place were blocked off for VIP's. We sat right in the middle of the theatre in fantastic seats. Showtime was set for 8pm and people were getting anxious. They started to play HUNG UP and all of a sudden a group of queens started to do 'the dance'....the one that Madonna taught to the dancers at the end of TRL....inspired by John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.
Behind us were a few dancers from the tour, Ingrid Caseras, Guy Oseary, Nicky Hilton. Then Madonna walked in....everyone jumped out of their seats and was screaming, screaming, screaming! Madonna went to the front with 4 security guys. She grabbed the microphone and said that she will not begin until everyone is quiet. Even ordering them to be quiet. Then ordered everyone to sit down. Then ordered everyone to shut off their mobile phones so they can enjoy the film. Of course everyone did exactly as she commanded.
She then gave a 5 minute speech about how much she loves her fans, the movie and how she wants everyone to dance during the songs in the movie. She thanked lots of people. She was standing with the Director of the film. Everyone was taking tons of pictures with their mobile phones and going crazy for her.
As for the movie....well, I will not spoil it, so tune in to MTV on Friday night. But its totally different than Truth or Dare, and really fantastic. Sends out so many great messages. As the movie reveals, there is no other queen!
From Matt:
Last night I stopped over at the theatre to see if I could catch a glimpse of Madonna as she arrived to the premire of 'Secret'. As I walked up to the paparazzi, I asked if I had missed her arrival, I was told no, and then asked 'did you get a ticket?' I said no, and I was told there was a guy walking around who was handing them out. I couldn't believe it! This was the same premiere that people had to win tickets though MTV!
I found the guy and at first, he said 'no'. Then he said, 'are you a fan?' Of course Im a fan! Then he said, 'what's her Kaballah name?'....long story short, he gave me a ticket, Ingrid Cassares entred with me, I got in the theatre, had a fabulous seat dead center, Madonna entered, we all cheared, she stood at the front of the theatre, 8 rows away from me with Jonas the director, Stuart Price and various other crew from the movie.
She gave a nice welcome, made jokes about cell phones and told us to dance during the dancing scenes. Then she sat in the back and watched the movie with us! I had never seen her that close before, she has the most beautiful, glowing skin, and beautiful eyes! It was a dream come true!

Madonna named honoury co-chair of PUNA
Posted: 19 October 2005 - Thanks to Mo
Academy Award winner, Morgan Freeman, Honorary Chair, for the Pasadena-Foothills Chapter of the United Nations Association (PUNA) announced today that popular singer and music artist, Madonna will join him as Honorary Co-chair for PUNA’s October 22, fundraiser to celebrate the 60 years of the United Nations (UN). Comedian and alumni Saturday Night Live cast member, Nora Dunn, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.
This year’s event brings the UN’s goals for Human Rights back into focus, as the organization highlights the United Nation’s 8 Millennium Development Goals to create a better world. Executive Director, Sherry Dean-Simpson, point out, 'This chapter of the UN is one of the oldest and most influential chapters around today. I am pleased to announce the addition of Madonna as Honorary Co-chair for this important occasion. We are proud to have such distinguished guests support us in our efforts.'
The historic Pacific Asian Museum provides a beautiful and graceful backdrop for the silent auction fundraiser, with three separate areas of activity. Starting at the museum’s front gate and moving upstairs to where the selected art pieces will be displayed, then on to the back courtyard where the reception will be held.
Sponsored by Pasadena’s K-Mozart 105.1 radio station who has been serving the cultural community with classical music for over 45 years, and Cobblestone Vineyards, Napa Valley and Monterey exceptional wineries, the event will draw attention to the local chapter and its plans to boost the UN’s presence in the Los Angeles community.
The group hopes to raise $50,000 to further its mission of educating the public about the goals of the UN. The funds collected from this event will go toward the association’s goal of creating a greater awareness and extension of their reach to a broader community.
Doors are open to the public. All artwork will be on display for silent bid starting at 6 p.m. People are encouraged to buy their tickets early through the PUNA website or by calling (626)449-1795.
The Spiritual Girl not the Material Girl
Posted: 19 October 2005 - From CBS News
Over the last two decades, Madonna has reinvented herself several times.
She's at it again, says The Early Show national correspondent Tracy Smith, with a new documentary offering some surprising insights into her world and her spritual evolution.
The film premiered Tuesday night, and Smith was there.
'Blink,' says Smith, 'and you'd think it's the '90s: Madonna, a crowd of screaming fans, and a new documentary.'
The pop icon joked during a chat with Smith at the premiere, 'I was gonna call this movie 'Truth or Dare, Part Two,' but I decided to be a little bit more creative.'
The original 'Truth or Dare' came out more than a decade ago, following Madonna on her 'Blond Ambition' tour.
The new film, called 'I'm Going To Tell You a Secret,' offers a behind-the-scenes look at her 2004 'Re-Invention' tour.
'Often, people in the entertainment business keep their truths to themselves; their secrets,' Madonna observed, to Smith. 'So, hopefully, I've revealed some of those things in the movie.'
Not surprisingly, it has a few controversial moments, including one asserting most priests are gay.
Some Catholics are already saying they're upset about it, Smith reports.
What would Madonna say to them?
'They haven't seen the movie yet,' she replied to Smith. 'They can have an opinion after they see the movie.'
But, says Smith, if you're expecting the raunchiness of 'Truth or Dare,' think again.
In one scene, a man tells Madonna, 'I don't really believe in God.'
'That really hurts me to hear that,' Madonna responds.
This Madonna, Smith says, is 'The Spiritual Girl,' not 'The Material Girl.'
'To me,' Madonna remarks in the documentary, 'the beast is the modern world that we live in. The material world. The physical world. The world of illusion that we think is real. We live for it. We're enslaved by it. And it will ultimately be our undoing.'
MTV News correspondent John Norris tells The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith he liked the new film 'a lot. In a different way than 'Truth or Dare.' Some of the hedonism that's there in 'Truth or Dare' is replaced by a more spiritual Madonna, a Madonna who's a wife and mother now, definitely a different view of her, but it's a pretty compelling movie.'
As for her apparent move away from her 'Material Girl' image, '(The Jewish spiritual movement of) Kaballah is a big part of it, I think. She's definitely evolved, as a person, and as an individual, and it's reflected in her work. And you can certainly see in this film that the things that were important to her once (aren't as important anymore).'
'There's a great point in the movie where she says, 'You know, I had a lot of fun back then. I'm not going to say I didn't have fun. But fun can be overrated.' And I think she's discovered that other things matter.'
Does that seeming evolution surprise Norris?
'You have to sort of wonder, what was the alternative, if there wasn't a family. She says she felt sort of like a spinning wheel 15 years ago. She had a good time, but some days she'd feel like, 'Hey, this is great.' Other times, she would feel like something is lacking. Obviously, she found her path.'
Asked whether there's any reflection in the movie on Madonna being a very strict mother, Norris says, 'You do see the kids. I think it's the first chance people have ever had to hear the kids speak. They're so great and charming and adorable and articulate. Whatever she's done, she seems to be doing it right. You get a good view of the kids.'
Norris describes Madonna's new album, 'Confessions on a Dance Floor' as 'wall-to-wall dance music; the most dance-oriented thing she's done, at 47. More power to her. It's gonna do well in the clubs. We'll see how it does on radio.'
Is Madonna as relevant or important as she was 20 years ago?
'I think,' Norris says, 'to a lot of people, she is, and (she) even (has) a certain more relevance now.'
I'm Going To Tell You A Secret: Premiere
Posted: 19 October 2005 - From AP/Reuters Via Yahoo!
Here are the first pictures from Madonna's appearance at the premiere for her documentary I'm Going To Tell You A Secret in New York City last night.
I'm Going To Tell You A Secret: More details
Posted: 19 October 2005 - From MTV.com
Madonna hasn’t let her kids see her classic, controversial 1991 documentary 'Truth or Dare,' which profiled her Blonde Ambition Tour.
Perhaps she’ll let them see her forthcoming 'I’m Going to Tell You a Secret' - which premieres Friday at 10 p.m. on MTV - and not just because they’re in it. For her latest re-invention, Madonna’s all grown up now. (Get a 10-minute sneak preview of Madonna’s new documentary, only on Overdrive.)
'It’s a different me,' she said. 'I have a husband, I have a family, my whole life has changed. It would be pretty strange if I was behaving the same way I did 12 years ago - that would be a little freaky. No more Evian bottles!'
Besides ditching the erotic simulations, Madonna’s documentary 'I’m Going to Tell You a Secret,' which chronicles her 2004 Re-Invention Tour, also abandons a lot of the self-involvement that made 'Truth or Dare' so candid. This time, she’s happy to share screen time with her troupe of dancers, her musical director, her choreographer and others. She’s constantly pushing them to think more, to be more, do more - asking them if they believe in God, if they’re registered to vote.
She gives one crew member a guitar, so that he’ll write more songs. And during one tour stop, she takes her dancers to see a classical pianist play, so that they’ll be exposed to passion in another art form.
Still, she tells them just before their last show, crying, that she regrets not having spent more time with them. That’s because this time, to contradict Warren Beatty’s famous criticism in 'Truth or Dare,' she is living off-camera.
'I think one of the big differences was that I didn’t have a family during ’Truth or Dare,’ ' she said, 'so I spent more time with the dancers, doing goofy, crazy, mischievous things with them. This film, it’s a juggling act. I do less stuff with the dancers, but I cry, because I love them, and it’s very hard to let go of them.'
That connection starts right at the beginning, with an audition process where she pointedly looks for dancers not to blend in, but to stand out. She wants them to have 'something special' - so they can do solos and not just be in the background. 'I don’t think of them as dancers,' she explained. 'I think of them as actors, as performance artists.' She picks one for his skill at tap-dancing, another for breakdancing - and asks them if they smoke marijuana. Not because she’s morally opposed, but because she says it’ll slow them down in the end.
Because she identifies with them - having worked as a dancer herself - she hates cutting them from the auditions, and seems to be as gleeful when they are when she gets to tell them they’ve made the cut. 'I know what it’s like to dance your heart out and have them go, ’Thanks, you can leave now,’ ' Madonna said. 'It’s terrible.'
It’s also terrible, she says, to try to leave her family behind, so she tries to take them on the road with her at times, although her husband seems to prefer hanging out at pubs to seeing every show. Her two kids, meanwhile, have definitely learned a few lessons from mom - including how to steal a scene. Lourdes, 9, sounds impressive when she instructs 4-year-old Rocco to look at 'the big picture.' Rocco laughs uproariously.
Madonna says she was reluctant at first to include them - she didn’t want to exploit them, but if she didn’t show that side of her life, the documentary 'would be a lie.' 'It’s a fine line to walk,' Madonna said. So she ended up taping the segments with her kids with a friend of the family. 'Everyone was very comfortable,' she said. 'Honestly, they didn’t even know (the cameraman) was there. They just sort of behaved as they normally do.'
Even though Lourdes is a natural, Madonna jokes that she doesn’t want her daughter following in her footsteps. 'She’s going to be a nun!' Madonna declared. But seriously, little Lola is already displaying a talent for ballet, and will be dancing in 'The Nutcracker' in London this year.
Perhaps after that, Mom will reconsider letting her daughter see at least this documentary, to see what life as a dancer on the road is really like.
'I’m Going To Tell You a Secret' premieres on Friday, October 21, at 10 p.m. on MTV.

Just wanted to tell that I listened to a countdown on a radiostation in Denmark, and 'Hung up' was requested so much it made it's debut at number 6.
From MK:
KIIS FM is LA's most popular radio station and most west coast stations get their playlist from KIIS. Help Madonna get heavy rotation on this station and we could have a #1 in the US. Vote at www.jojostop5.com
From Nathan:
Just want to let you guys know that 'Hung Up' is on its debut day on dutch populair radio station 'Yorin' already number three most requested song.
There was also a contest on another popular Dutch radio station 'Radio 538' they do this every night, and the listeners can vote to keep on playing or to stop playing a new single. Tonight 'Hung Up' was voted to keep on playing on the radio and the listeners said it wil be a mega hit!

Madonna: Rediscovered
Posted: 18 October 2005 - From the New York Post
Holy kabbalah! The Material Girl's returned, and the material's fabulous. Madonna version 47.2 is a tricked-out '70s disco queen with platinum feathered hair, channeling John Travolta in 'Saturday Night Fever.' She's ditched the political commentary (at least musically) and her first single, 'Hung Up,' is sampled from a 1979 ABBA hit, 'Gimme Gimme Gimme.' For that alone, haters may say it's time to stick a fork in her. They should stick it.

MTV TRL Screen Captures
Posted: 18 October 2005 - Thanks to Corey
Here are some screen captures from Madonna's appearance last night on MTV's TRL in New York City, the show previewed her new video and Madonna judged a Move To Madonna contest during the show.
madonnalicious visitor Matt was watching Madonna's appearance on TRL from the street, here is his story:
I just wanted to share seeing Madonna at TRL yesterday. Although I wasn't in the studio, I waited outside with about 100 other people (on both sides of the street). The weather was cool, but not cold enough to keep me from seeing the Queen!
About 45 min. into the show, she finally appeared standing in the window with the host, with her back facing the street, wearing a very sexy, low-cut, backless purple disco dress! Matched her 70's inspired feathered hair! I might also add, I could see her diamond bracelet literally sparkling from across the street!
Finally, at one point, as she was talking to the host and a several other staff (most likely during a commercial break), she looked to the side and noticed the crowds below (it seemed as though she didn't know there was a crowd) she turned around fully to face the street and waved to everyone down below, blew a kiss, waved some more and then turned back to continue talking to the crew.
Everyone on the street was chanting 'Ma-don-na!' and screaming and cheering! It was amazing and she looked amazing!
Madonna judges TV dance-off

Madonna fans got the chance to impress the Material Girl on MTV's Total Request Live yesterday by dancing for the chance to attend a private screening of new documentary Madonna: I'm Going To Tell You A Secret with the pop superstar.
The Like A Prayer singer brought Times Square, New York to a near standstill when she took over TRL - to judge a dance contest. She chose a sexy street dancer called ST ISE over classically trained JOJO in the final.
Madonna's documentary premieres on MTV on Friday 21 October 2005.
Gimme Gimme Gimme a song
Posted: 18 October 2005 - From ananova.com
Madonna has revealed she had to write a grovelling letter to Abba songwriters asking if she could use their music on her new single.
The music to Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie features on her new single Hung Up.
According to The Sun online Madonna told Attitude magazine: 'I had to send my emissary to Stockholm with a letter and the record begging them and imploring them and telling them how much I worship their music, telling them it was an homage to them, which is all true.'
'And they had to think about it, Benny and Bjorn. They didn't say yes straight away. They never let anyone sample their music. They could have said no. Thank God they didn't.'
Benny said: 'We get so many requests from people wanting to use our tracks but we normally say no. This is only the second time we have given permission.'
'We said yes this time because we admire Madonna so much and always have done. She has got guts and has been around for 21 years. That is not bad going. If it wasn't any good we wouldn't have said yes. It is a wonderful track, 100% solid pop music.'
The Fugees used a sample from Abba's The Name Of The Game on their 1996 track Rumble In The Jungle.

Madonna back on the job
Posted: 18 October 2005 - From CBS News - thanks to Vincy
Madonna hasn't let motherhood or a recent horseback riding accident slow her down.
In fact, observes The Early Show national correspondent Tracy Smith, you could argue that she's busier than ever.
'The Material Girl' gave Smith an exclusive interview as Madonna visited MTV's 'TRL,' whose audience gave her a wild welcome.
It's been two decades since Madonna first appeared on MTV but, says Smith, even to fans who weren't born then, Madonna is as big as it gets.
She was appearing on TRL to promote her new album, 'Confessions on a Dance Floor,' which Madonna told Smith is an 'all-dance record. I decided I wanted to make a record that made people happy, that lifted people up, that gave people hope. And I wanted to make a record where you could put it on and, for a whole hour, you could dance nonstop and not have to skip past anything, skip past slow songs, or go to another record.'
But, Smith points out, Madonna's life is about more than music these days.
She's a children's book author with two kids of her own, and she's determined to raise them right.
'The number one rule,' Madonna says, 'is to be grateful and say, 'Please' and 'Thank you.' Yeah. That's the number one rule....Cleaning your room, that's another one. Brushing your teeth.'
And if they don't do those things?
'Oh, I just scream and nag at them, like most parents.'
Looking at her, Smith remarks, you'd never know that, on her 47th birthday in August, she broke several bones falling off a horse.
'I had to do nothing for a month, which was excruciatingly painful for me, to just sit still and let my bones heal,' Madonna recalls, describing it as, 'the hardest thing I've ever done. And after that, starting to do rehab religiously, and taking lots of supplements. And I had to stop drinking coffee and, uh, nightmare. Nightmare.'
Is she shaken?
'No. I'm OK. I'm OK. I'm not completely 100 percent yet, but I'm getting there.'
Madonna even took time to give Smith a quick dancing lesson, involving arm rolls.
She has a documentary coming out called, 'I'm Going to Tell You a Secret.'
It's premiering Tuesday night in New York. Smith will be there, and have a sneak peek Wednesday, along with a red carpet report.
Later in the week, the documentary will be on three MTV network channels: MTV, VH1 and Logo, all of which are owned by Viacom, as is CBSNews.com.

Liz Smith defends Madonna the mother
Posted: 18 October 2005 - From the New York Post
Madonna is in the city, promoting the November release of her CD, 'Confessions on a Dance Floor' and her documentary, 'I’m Going to Tell You a Secret.' (I have heard - and even danced to - 'Confessions,' and it is so much fun!)
A few vintage (as in culled from an old interview) Madonna remarks about disciplining her children have recently resurfaced. Some people are aghast - no TV, picking up your clothes, no exposure to relentless media. Yet M’s two kids, Lourdes and Rocco, impress those who meet them as not only well-behaved, but unusually on the ball, sensitive and imaginative. Mrs. Ritchie insists they read. Literacy Partners might consider Madonna as a guest reader some year. She knows the joy and power that comes from losing yourself in a good book.
But Madonna is like any other mom in some ways. Just the other day she and Lourdes dropped in at the dessert emporium Serendipity 3. M had an egg-white, herb omelet with tomatoes. Lourdes enjoyed the Pasta Angelical, sans prosciutto. Then mother and daughter indulged in Serendipity’s famous Frozen Hot Chocolate. Those within earshot commented that 9-year-old Lourdes conducts herself like a 'young lady.'

Stuart Price tries out Hung Up in Belfast
Posted: 13 October 2005
madonnalicious visitor Cris saw Stuart Price this weekend in Belfast and sent in this report of the reaction to him playing Hung Up:
Everyone who has seen Jacques Lu Cont live set knows how much this guy rocks. I have seen him over 10 times in the past 4 years and I love the guy....so as a HUGE madonna fan I'm delighted he's working with our ass-kicking idol.
I was lucky enough to attend his set in a club this weekend (8/10/05) in Belfast. Shine was the club and Stuart Price was in form.
His set finished....the house lights went up....and everyone wanted one more tune....everyone wanted the tune of year....Hung up. I could hear people talking and asking if he would play the Madonna song.
Now this club is hardcore and trance....to hear everyone asking was a revelation. Then the lights went off...and 'Time goes by.... so slowly' echoed through the room....everyone went insane as the ABBA sample pounded from the speakers.
I have never seen such excited and crazy dancing. I think Madonna has become a god. But we already knew that didn't we....it just took everyone else time to figure it out.

Madonna to confess all to MTV
Posted: 13 October 2005 - From Associated Press Via Yahoo!
There will be a Madonna-thon of sorts on MTV's networks over the next few weeks. The pop queen, who is due to release a new album next month, will appear on MTV's 'Total Request Live' on Monday to play her single 'Hung Up.'
Then, on Oct. 21, the network will premiere her new documentary, 'I'm Going to Tell You a Secret,' which chronicles her exploits during last year's 'The Re-Invention Tour.' The film will air the following week on VH1 and Logo, the new network geared toward gays and lesbians.
VH1 will have the world premiere of her 'Hung Up' video later this month. MTV's various networks also will air the video, along with interviews with the 47-year-old singer.
'With so many highlights of my career having taken place on MTV and VH1 and then with the addition of their new Logo network, it just made perfect sense to air it for my fans on those outlets,' Madonna said in a statement Wednesday.
'Confessions on a Dance Floor,' her new album, is set for release Nov. 15.

On her highly anticipated new Warner Bros. Records release, 'Confessions On A Dance Floor,' Madonna brilliantly re-invents dance music for our time. A stunning creative leap into the dazzling dimension of 'future disco,' these dozen new originals simultaneously capture the spontaneous thrill of the iconic superstar's early hits.
Set to arrive in stores November 15th, and featuring the debut single 'Hung Up,' scheduled for release October 17th, 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' once again establishes Madonna's preeminent place on the international club scene. It's a mesmerizing sound that evokes and embellishes all the excitement, energy and innovation that first set her apart as a dance music pioneer over two decades ago.
While Madonna's recent music has explored her thoughts and feelings on everything from spirituality to politics, 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' is, in the artist's own words, 'about having a good time straight through and non-stop. I want people to jump out of their seats.'
A genuine global superstar, packing stadiums worldwide with her astonishing stage spectacles, Madonna, a multi-Grammy winner, has made music history with international sales of over 200 million albums. Her enormous influence has spanned 33 number one dance hits; five chart topping albums and 46 Top 40 singles and 20 MTV Video Music Awards.
Recorded earlier this year in London, 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' was primarily co-produced and co-written by Madonna and Stuart Price. Also known as Les Rythmes Digitales and Jaques Le Cont, Price is one of the UK's most electrifying young DJs and remix wizards, who initially forged a creative partnership with Madonna as her Musical Director on both the 2001 'Drowned World' and 2004's 'Re-Invention' tours.
'This is music that just comes naturally to her,' explains Price, whose home studio served as the setting for the freewheeling writing and recording sessions. 'The songs flowed very quickly. Madonna was interested in capturing the moment because, when all is said and done, it's that instinctive joy of rhythm and movement that comes across best on the dance floor.'
Also collaborating on Madonna's first new release in over two years is Mirwais Ahmadzai and the Grammy-winning duo of Bloodshy and Avant, as well as Anders Bagge and Peer Astrom of the Murlyn Music Collective and Joe Henry, whose previous Madonna credits include 'Don't Tell Me.'
'Confessions On A Dance Floor' selections include the above-mentioned 'Hung Up,' which includes a sample of Abba's classic 'Gimme Gimme,' as well as dance-themed cuts 'Get Together,' 'Sorry,' 'Future Lovers,' 'I Love New York,' 'Let It Will Be,' 'Forbidden Love,' 'Jump,' 'How High,' 'Isaac,' 'Push' and 'Like It Or Not.' The entire CD is seamlessly segued in a classic dance club format.
Madonna's first scheduled TV appearance will be on October 17th when she will pay a visit to MTV's TRL studio, where she will introduce her new single for the first time.
MTV, as part of a multi-faceted agreement with the artist, is also scheduled to air Madonna's new documentary 'I'm Going To Tell You A Secret' on October 21st with subsequent airings on the VH-1 and Logo Networks. 'Secret' tells the story of the artist's journey on and offstage during her recent 'Re-Invention' Tour and shows an artist at the peek of her creative powers while she balances the joys of work, family, friends and her spiritual journey.
A cultural innovator of astonishing diversity and enduring appeal, Madonna has defined our era with her sound, style and vision that has inspired countless artists and fans around the globe. In the process she has pioneered a new model of creative empowerment, overseeing a multi-faceted career that encompasses virtually every aspect of contemporary culture.

Hung Up reactions from the dancefloor
Posted: 11 October 2005
madonnalicious visitor Mario was in a club in Montreal when the dub version of Hung Up was played, here are the reactions from the night:
I went to the Black and Blue rave party which took place in Montreal, Canada, on Saturday 09 October. Around 3:00am in the morning, they played the dance version of madonna's new song 'Hung Up' and the 15 000 people there including me got really wild. It was an amazing feeling and it's obvious that this coming song will definitly be a hit.
On the set of the Hung Up video
Posted: 10 October 2005
Madonna shot part of her video for her new single Hung Up in London over the weekend, madonnalicious visitor Adam just happened to be going to work when he spotted Madonna and her crew:
Madonna was shooting a scene from Hung Up outside my place of work on Saturday night to my absolute amazement considering I have been a fan for many years.
I arrived for work Saturday evening in Great Guildford Street at around 10.30pm, just as they had finished shooting in a really old and dirty looking tunnel.
I didn't take much notice at first, thinking that they were shooting an episode of The Bill or something crap like that - although I must admit that I was surprised at how many crew members there were. As I was approaching the building a security guard met me and asked where I was going, I advised him that I worked in the building and he escorted me to the entrance.
As I was about to walk up the steps who I should I see but Madonna herself, wearing a black leather coat and black boots. She turned around and said 'come on' to the person standing behind her - Guy Ritchie - then they both got in a 4x4 and left.

Madonna wants to invite Oprah into her home
Posted: 06 October 2005 - From the NY Daily News
Will Oprah join the kabbala cabal? Madonna has been talking up the mystical form of Judaism to the already-spiritual talk-show queen for two years, in hopes that her fellow icon could help bring the Artist Occasionally Known as Esther's belief system to mainstream America, according to our source.
The U.K.-based pop star has sent Oprah books and E-mails about kabbala, a spy tells us, but Angela De Paul in Oprah's office told us she wasn't aware that her boss had received any of the red-string propaganda.
In a country where conservative Christians have shown their might in recent years, an endorsement of kabbala by Winfrey, who has 9 million loyal viewers, would have a powerful effect. Her seal of approval has boosted everything from book sales to her own upcoming Broadway musical, 'The Color Purple.'
Madonna knows that, and that's why she's chosen Oprah's show for her first interview since she took a tumble off a horse, our source says.
Her Madgesty's reportedly going to let Oprah bring cameras into her British country manor to see how the other 0.000001% lives, and she'll also perform two numbers from her upcoming CD, 'Confessions on a Dancefloor.'
For those who crave more, the diva's designing her own iPod, loaded with every recording she's ever made, and - call out the New York faithful - she's planning a concert here for MTV, sources tell us.

Q magazine Imagine CD
Posted: 03 October 2005 - Thanks to Anna-Clare
Fans who picked up a copy of the November 2005 issue of UK music magazine Q would have received a free John Lennon tribute CD. This CD features Madonna's version of Imagine and the credits state that this was recorded during the Tsunami Aid benefit in January 2005.
However on listening to the CD fans have noticed that this recording is obviously from the Re-Invention tour as there is crowds cheering in the background, and the large cheer when John Lennon's face appeared on the video backdrop during the tour is most definitely audible!
The magazine publishers were contacted to ask about this possible discrepancy and this is the answer supplied:
The track was supplied by Madonna directly through management and that's what they told us the recording is from!

You could see the determination in her eyes
Posted: 02 October 2005
madonnalicious visitor Monika attended the opening night of the Madonna Nudes 1979 Martin Schreiber photographic exhibition in Adelaide, Australia. Here is her report from the event:
This is the first time in the world Martin Schreiber's full collection of Madonna photos has been exhibited. His photos weren't that graphic (we've seen most of them before).
The prints were expensive but several were sold tonight. Photos 11, 12, 18 and 20 had all been sold by the time I left. Thats more than $10,000AUD!
I spoke to Martin only briefly as everyone wanted a piece of him tonight. Personally, I was more interested in mingling with other artists I knew or like-minded fans who I didn't know!
I was fascinated to see Madonna as she was before she was famous. It's odd but you could see the determination in her eyes through Schreiber's photographs. Amazing....yet haunting. These photographs are a part of her history and a part of her growing up in New York - her stepping stones to something 'bigger and better'.
I enjoyed the exhibition very much.
Here is the list of pictures featured at the exhibition, click to enlarge.
