Unreleased Madonna songs update
Posted: 30 April 2006

Bruce Baron has contacted madonnalicious to tell fans about the extensive updates he has made to the Unreleased Madonna Songs listing at Wikipedia greatly expanding the entries, the links, credit details and descriptions.

Featured highlights for your reference in this update are....
1) The documented evidence of Madonna as being the sole author of 'Physical Attraction' almost two years before Reggie Lucas was unexplainably assigned that claim.
2) Expanded descriptions and partial lyrics to unreleased songs like 'We Live In A House', 'Warning Signs', 'Shame', 'Jitterbug' and many others taken from my original year 2000 notes from my visit to the US Copyright office.
3) The full track listing to the 'Rain' album (as titled by the US copyright office) with song titles plus dates and song length (where available) taken from the notes of my visual inspection of the actual copyright tapes submitted by Shep Pettibone.
4) The documented evidence that 'Everybody' was originally a co-write with Stephen Bray.
5) The documented alternate title name for the 'Wonderland' TV Theme which is also the Italian word for 'Airy'.
6) The Arabic language female voice sampled in 'Erotica' and 'The Beast Within' is not Islamic in nature as most fans believe.

Lorenzo Agius on Madonna
Posted: 30 April 2006 - Thanks to Felicity

Lorenzo Agius, the photographer of the Ladies Home Journal shoot, was interviewed in the UK Telegraph Magazine and he had this to say about working with Madonna last year:

I wanted to do something that wasn't typical. Something more traditional. We ended up shooting in a prop house in west London. I was quite surprised, she really needed guidance. I suppose we were going for something that she hadn't done before. She couldn't just go crazy and ham it up to music.

Dita Von Teese on Madonna the style icon
Posted: 30 April 2006 - Thanks to Dylan

In an interview with Factio Magazine, Dita Von Teese is aked What women and men (from which city worldwide) have great style and why?

The men that have the best personal style are John Galliano, Zac Posen, Hamish Bowles, and my husband, of course. I love a man who dresses UP! The women whose style I admire are Madonna and Marlene Dietrich. There are lots of women that always look terrific, but I think there are very few celebrities that actually have a signature personal style. Most of them are wearing what their stylist recommends.
Marlene Dietrich was a complete individual who broke new ground with the outfits she chose, and she showed women how to look glamourous in pants. And Madonna is the only true style icon of our time, and likely one of the few female entertainers people will remember from our time 100 years from now.

Fans set up camp for Madonna tickets
Posted: 21 April 2006 - From icWales By Paul Maunder, South Wales Echo

Dozens of die-hard Madonna fans today braved miserable conditions to snap up the first tickets to see the Queen of Pop's Millennium Stadium concert.
Fans camped for hours outside the Ticketline office, in Westgate Street, and Cardiff International Arena on chairs and in sleeping bags to make sure they got their ticket to see the superstar.
The singer is expected to perform to more than 60,000 fans at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday, July 30 - one of only two venues on the UK leg of her Confessions World Tour.
It will be the first time she has ever played in Wales, with tickets for the concert selling for between £55 and £150.
Mother-of-two Rhiannadd James, 33, from Trowbridge, had camped outside Ticketline since 8pm yesterday to make sure she was first in the queue to snap up a ticket.
She said: 'I've been a Madonna fan since I first saw her on Top of the Pops when I was a kid. This will be the first time I'll have seen her in concert and I'm very excited. She's just phenomenal.'
Zoe Carlyon, 28, of Salisbury Road, Cathays, who joined the queue at midnight, said: 'I've been obsessed with Madonna since I first saw her on Top of the Pops when I was five-years-old.'
Dafydd Mott, 31, an antiques dealer from Constellation Street, Adamsdown, had been queuing since 2.:30am today to get tickets for him and his wife.
He said: 'I'm under orders from the wife to get the tickets. Madonna has a talent for reinventing herself and her music has changed with the times.'
Meanwhile Mark Collings, 26, from Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly, Sion Thomas, 19, from the Graig, Pontypridd, and Steven Edwards, 19, Llanbradach, arrived at the Cardiff International Arena at 5:00pm yesterday to make sure they were first in the queue to buy tickets.
Mr Collings said: 'Madonna is just amazing. All this rubbish about tickets being too expensive is a nonsense because you know what you're going to get, which is just an amazing event.'

Tour stage details and a missing song *Spoiler*
Posted: 20 April 2006

The stages arrived last weekend and tour rehearsals have now started on these.
There are two different stage layouts, depending on the size of the venue.
This may explain why some venue seating charts have a three catwalks, while others only have one catwalk. This is all due to venue size limitations.

At the moment there is still no Holiday on the setlist, Madonna has told the dancers she is 'tired' of performing the song - however it is still used for vocal warm ups. This would be the first tour in which she does not perform this song.

Madonna's Children Design Handbags For Charity
Posted: 18 April 2006 - From WENN Via Yahoo!

Madonna's children Rocco and Lourdes have decorated handbags for fashion house Celine that will be auctioned off for charity next month.
The fashion company asked 19 celebrity offspring including the children of Emmanuelle Beart and Audrey Marnay, to customise its canvas Poulbot bag.
The proceeds from the sale will go to actress/singer Vanessa Paradis' charity Reves, which helps sick children realise their dreams.
Paradis' children with actor Johnny Depp, Jack and Lily-Rose, have also designed bags for the cause.
The French fashion house sent the necessary design tools, from felt-tip pens to feathers to the children to help with their projects.
Madonna's daughter nine-year-old daughter Lourdes covered her bag with red lips, while her five-year-old son Rocco sketched colourful drawings of small animals on his bag.
The bags will be auctioned off at a dinner at the Hotel Bristol in Paris, France, on 30 May.

*SPOILER* Tour news from the NY Daily News
Posted: 17 April 2006 - Thanks to kikikins

This item was published in today's edition of the NY Daily News:

What would a Madonna show be without a touch of sacrilege? We hear one of the centerpieces for her 'Confessions' tour will be a 'disco-fied crucifix,' as one source calls it. While details of the kabbalist's latest taunt to the Catholic League are shrouded in secrecy, we can tell you Her Madgesty is also hatching another grand entrance.
Word is she'll descend to the stage on a glittering ball covered with diamonds and Swarovski crystals. The ball supposedly costs $10 million and is being constructed in a well-guarded airplane hangar in L.A. 'It'll create a blinding light,' says our snitch. 'Like she's landing on the spaceship from 'E.T.'

Madonna's video dancer interviewed

One of the dancers, Kymberlee Jay, who features in the Hung Up and Sorry videos is interviewed by RWD and she talks briefly about Madonna:

Cool, you have worked with so many people. What were they all like? Wait. Madonna. What was Madonna like? The Queen of pop....
[Laughs] She has a dancing background…
Yep, at the moment a lot of people are saying she shouldn’t be rolling around on the floor in her leotard.
If I was her age, I wish I could do it too. She is amazing. She is brilliant. And she is great to work with, she‘s so professional in what she does and everyone is well looked after. From early morning she’s there ‘til late and night.

The drink cans pictured below are one of the few items left from the Madonna/Pepsi collaboration, and just think if the collaboration remained we would have had a Like A Prayer world tour instead of Blond Ambition tour in 1990!

Faster than a ray of light, Madonna sold out every ticket - even those going for $400 a pop - to her initial run of shows at Madison Square Garden for her upcoming 'Confessions' tour.
Ten minutes after they went on sale yesterday morning, all seats were gone for the first two announced New York dates, June 28 and 29.
A short time later, the promoter announced two more dates, July 2 and 3, and those sold out by early afternoon.
A fifth show has just been added for July 18. Tickets for that date go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
The 47-year-old material mom also quickly sold out all seven shows at London's Wembley Arena, four concerts in Paris, plus all dates in Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal and Chicago.
Fans who've been shut out shouldn't give up. It's common for seats held for various production and promotion purposes to be released for sale closer to the concert dates.

Madonna escapes Semtex lawsuit
Posted: 11 April 2006 - From WENN Via Yahoo! News

Madonna can breathe a sigh of relief after a Czech explosives firm cancelled plans to sue her for copyright infringement.
The pop queen angered Explosia after creating a limited company in the UK called Semtex Girls Ltd - using the same name as the firm's most famous product.
The company claimed to own the international rights to the name, which it estimated to be worth GBP3 million - but has axed plans for a costly court case.
Director Ladislav Lehky says, 'Madonna uses the name for pure promotional purposes. We can't really prove that we suffer a loss from that.'
Madonna has yet to reveal what purpose Semtex Girls Ltd serves, only that it was named after a nickname she gives her three assistants.
She said, 'The Semtex Girl is a girl who is dynamic, a girl who explodes, who doesn't know the meaning of nine to five, a girl who is unstoppable and who doesn't take no for an answer. And has excellent taste. Guys can be Semtex Girls too.'

Madonna learnt guitar to play The Sound Of Music
Posted: 11 April 2006 - From contactmusic.com

Pop superstar Madonna took guitar lessons so she could play The Sound Of Music to her children Lourdes and Rocco. The Material Girl visited London guitar teacher Bobby Tider three times a week for four months in 2001, and was soon out-strumming her film-maker husband Guy Ritchie.
Tider says, 'I got a call from Guy. I didn't know who he was, just some rich dude. I used to go to his flat and I was sitting there one day when Madonna came in. She asked me to give her lessons too. Because I had been charging Guy GBP30-per-hour I had to charge Madonna the same - she was used to paying GBP60. I taught Madonna the scales. She wanted to learn The Sound Of Music for her kids. She also wanted to play early David Bowie songs. She was very good and worked very hard. You have to put in the hours. Guy was slow but Madonna was a good pupil.'

Wembley in-person sales
Posted: 05 April 2006 - Thanks to Ian

madonnalicious is now hearing that the rules have changed for in-person sales at Wembley Arena box office. It is likely that they will be doing a Random Number Lottery distribution method - in which numbers are handed out to the fans in the queue and then a lottery is drawn to decide which number is first in line. This method is done by venues these days to stop fans camping out overnight and to stop scalpers. A final decision will be made by Wembley Arena tomorrow.

We have now been informed that the wristband system is still in place....

Buying tickets in person from Wembley Arena?
Posted: 04 April 2006

Here is some important news for anyone planning to go to the Wembley Box Office on Friday morning to buy tickets for Madonna's shows - here is madonnalicious visitor Paul's story:

I have just managed to get up to the Wembley Arena box office to get a presale wristband. Basically I called the box office after the official tour announcement and was told to get there straight away. I have been given a wristband that entitles me to jump the queue on Friday morning! I was given number 001 and my friend was given 002 - this means we have to be at the box office before 8:00am on Friday and we will be allowed to buy tickets first direct from the box office and there is a limit of four tickets per person, unlike the ICON presale. They had a few wristbands so get there now and good luck!

Madonna will be dancing and singing across the stages of the world this spring and summer, it was announced today. The 'Confessions Tour' with concerts across major US cities, Canada, Europe and Japan will begin in Los Angeles on May 21st. 'Confessions' tour dates were officially confirmed by Madonna’s managers Angela Becker and Guy Oseary, along with Arthur Fogel, President of The Next Adventure (a Live Nation Company), the tour’s worldwide promoter.
Tour stops in North America for the 'Confessions Tour' will include arenas in Chicago, Boston, San Jose, Phoenix, Fresno, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Miami, Montreal and New York. Overseas appearances will take place in arenas, stadiums and outdoor venues in Paris, France; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Cardiff, Wales; Rome, Italy; Dusseldorf and Hannover, Germany; Horsens, Denmark; Osaka and Tokyo, Japan.
The 'Confessions Tour' will be directed by longtime Madonna collaborator Jamie King with Stuart Price once again on board as Musical Director. Arianne Phillips and Jean Paul Gaultier, long standing members of Madonna’s creative team, will respectively oversee and design costumes for the tour.
The Warner Bros. Records mega star, whose current CD 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' debuted at No.1 in 29 countries, has already begun rehearsals in Los Angeles with her talented troupe of musicians and dancers. With a staggering 35 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s dance charts during the course of her unparalleled career, it’s no surprise that Madonna issued the following mission statement regarding the 'Confessions Tour': 'I’m going to turn the world into one big dance floor,' exhorted the Material Girl.
